Flip
Ridiculous fee. Should've been £10m at least. I mean we're getting a whole Sissoko less for him imo.
MSC26
He had 4 years left on his deal. We don't need to sell as Rafa said. Clear that Rafa didn't rate him and/or did not like his attitude given the relatively low sum. For all the Juventus links he ended up at Watford. That says it all. Shays Given Tim Flowers
Be interesting to see his net contribution. How many goals was he responsible for vs goals/assists.
Hughesy
7m seems way too low - especially if we have paid 5m for Yedlin.
Teasy
Exactly what we need in this league. Anita running his bollocks off and making us more 'solid' is not. Pitiful fee. Four assists last season (one of those in the last game when it didn't even matter anymore) but how many goals did he cost us? No doubt he had a very good first season, 6 assists and didn't look as bad defensively, but he's been shite for a while now.
Nate
Janmaat was one of a handful of proven Premier League players we had left. Our squad is weaker without him. He's been sold for less than his market value. Not a disaster but no need to try and spin those facts.
Marmoset
Think people need a bit of a reality check on fullbacks in general. Everyone (me included) would like two on either side both comfortable with the ball going forward, offering a threat but also solid at the back. That's very hard to find. Think Janmaat was actually very good going forward and would have liked to have seen a full season of him under Rafa to see if he could drill better positioning into him. He's no top team kind of player but Yedlin will do well to be significantly better than him.

TRon
He always gave a shit imo. Just played poorly last season. Nah I remember quite a few times when someone stole in behind him to get a free header and then he'd look round in surprise with a "Huh? Where did you come from?" expression. Andy84
Anyone else think Yedlin will offer us much more? Wants to be here for a start. He's certainly much quicker and seems to be improving, he definately got better at the Mackems over the course of the season. Someone with blistering pace is what we need, not arsed in the slightest Jaanmat is gone.

Yedlin surely can't be any worse at defending, and at least he has pace in his locker to recover from mistakes. Janmaat seems to have wanted out for the last 12 months and it shows in his performances.
Zero
It is weird to say so but i prefer a defensive reliable but shit for other aspect right back aka Simpson more than Janmaat.
The College Dropout
It is weird to say so but i prefer a defensive reliable but s*** for other aspect right back aka Simpson more than Janmaat. Me too and it's not weird. Janmaat is good for FF but in real life he's cost us way more goals than he created in his time here. Defenders that can defend. Wingers that can attack properly and do enough the other way, CM partnership that can do both, attackers that can score and assist. Then you upgrade for players that can do more but not at the cost of the basic functionality
The College Dropout
G Nev made a point that in his day most FB's were CB's that couldn't make the grade. They then learnt how to attack. Nowadays most FB's are failed wingers and then they learn how to defend. For better sides (us in this division) the ex-winger is probably the best option. But weaker sides need to stick to fundamentals.
Doctor Zaius
I dont think failed is the correct word like. It just turns out that their style is perhaps more suited to being a full back as they get older in the same way that players often start out as strikers in youth and junior teams. They're just noticed more there. Ashley Cole was a winger in his youth, you can hardly say he 'failed' at anything, he was just more suited to full back. In the same way that some players will never be suited to playing full back (Robert, Giovinco, Ben Arfa, Ritchie)

In the same way that some players will never be suited to playing full back (Robert, Giovinco, Ben Arfa, Ritchie) Aye it's not entirely accurate but it's close enough. If you're so good at beating ya man and putting in shots or crosses you would be a winger. Often a FB needs more space to attack into to be a effective. Bale started at FB for Spurs. Too good going forward to be a defender. Then he was a winger. Too good going forward to have to worry about opposition fullbacks - he's now a forward.
