Just saw him talking on Sky Sports News and its a fantastic feeling to be able to look at him and know he's not our problem any more.

Ā

Also mentioned Palace wanting Gomis for a "club record fee", if true wouldn't that mean they'd be paying over £7m for him?

Ā

EDIT: People are talking about £9.25m, if true :kasper:

Ā

:lol: After he went to Swansea on a free last summer and has done practically nowt?Ā  Ridiculous, that.

:lol: Already trying to flog Bolasie.

Ā

What did he say about this?

Ā

"You can never say never - and I definitely learned that at Newcastle.

Ā

"But it would take an extraordinary bid."

Missed out the bit before that as well, the full exchange was:

Ā

Reporter:Ā  Your first game at Selhurst Park Alan, you must be very excited?

Pardew:Ā  Yeah, really thrilled.Ā  Can't wait.Ā  Anyway, ask me about Yannick Bolasie.

Reporter:Ā  What?

Pardew:Ā  Go on...

Reporter:Ā  ...

Pardew:Ā  ASK ME ABOUT YANNICK BOLASIE!

Reporter: Yannick Bolasie?

Pardew:Ā  Great question.Ā  You can never say never - and I definitely learned that at Newcastle.Ā  But it would take an extraordinary bid.

Alan Pardew – One of lowest net spends and difficult ā€˜agenda’ at Newcastle

Ā

1 min ago by Jim Robertson

Alan Pardew has gone further than he ever did when at St. James’ Park to sum up why Newcastle won’t ever be successful under the current running of the club by Mike Ashley.

Ā

At his first pre-match Crystal Palace press conference, the former United boss talked at length about his time on Tyneside.

Ā

alan pardewPardew admitted that there was a ā€˜difficult agenda’ under Mike Ashley and that the club had one of the lowest net transfer spends….otherwise known as the owner refusing to invest in the team.

Ā

Alan Pardew;

Ā

ā€œIt is difficult, because Newcastle is a big club, it is a club that is run on fairly tight financial margins and our net spend (non-existent!) was one of the lowest.

Ā

ā€œWe have had to really work hard at transfers because the funds for a club that size makes it difficult for the fans to understand that you need to have a slow progress and build slowly, which we did during my four years there.ā€

Ā

Right time to leave and Pardew’s decision;

Ā

ā€œFor me personally and professionally, it was the right time, and I think it is the right time for Newcastle too but it was my decision.

Ā

ā€œAlso for Newcastle, I think that four years under that type of monetary situation and the fact that they are trying to push, and the history, and everything else, it is difficult for the manager.ā€

Ā

Pardew had Newcastle punching above their weight…;

Ā

ā€œWe have actually punched above our weight at times and when you lose games there is going to be criticism from the stands, but never once did I sense that outside of the ground.

Ā

ā€œI think at Newcastle I proved that I can handle a big club in difficult circumstances, and with a difficult agenda, and I don’t think anyone at Newcastle would have an issue with me saying that.

Ā

Move due to Mike Ashley selling Newcastle?;

Ā

ā€œI have not heard that, it is just a rumour, Mike Ashley never suggested that, it was never in the format and it was a simple equation really.

Ā

ā€œCrystal Palace wanted me as their manager and they met the clause in my contract.

Ā

ā€œNewcastle told me that the clause had been met, and quite simply, I had a choice, whether to stay or go.

Ā

Aye Alan, I'm sure if we'd spent £10m on some clogger of your choice rather then £1.5m on Sissoko or £4m on Cabaye you'd have done much better here, those damn purse strings just stopped the likes of JonJo Shelvey from saving our club :(

@lee_ryder: Pardew: "I have left a good club and left it with a good base of young players. We pulled above our weight at times." #nufc

Ā

LOL

Ā

He's never said thatĀ  :lol: :lol: :lol:

Ā

They are the very words from Pardew mouth in his press conference today. Nearly chucked my TV remote at his smug face.

ManĀ  :lol:

Ā

Reading all this has brought back the feeling I felt when the news broke of him leaving.

Ā

So, so happy we don't have to put up with his bull anymore. It was terrible. Really terrible.

Pardew been on Radio Newcastle, tonight - interview at part of Total Sport.

Ā

Said that both he and Ashley felt it was the right time to go - Ashley brought him in as manager, down to the job he did at West Ham. Feels that the local press got on his case too much and some of the stuff like 'P45DUE' was really unfair.
