Thought I'd share this gem of a post from another forum:

What do you consider moderate success, afaik he had more away wins in 2015 than any other team in the league, can you describe that as moderate success?

As for 12 months, 99% of Newcastle fans are insanely biased but break down year by year. First year he did well, improved the team but nothing phenomenal. Second year was absolutely fantastic, that was a squad that should average mid table and he got them to 5th. Third year they had almost the entire first team squad out injured for on average 2-3 months, some longer, some less long, many repeat injuries and they had 40% extra games during the worst injury period from start of season to x-mas. There are few teams who would do well in such circumstances.

4th year and they were back to brilliant. Newcastle fans ignore it, so do most others but that year they had 33 points, were 6th and 6 points off the top which was 3 more points at the same stage they finished 5th. They were doing better than the season everyone said they were amazing..... then with half a season to go the owners sold Cabaye, their best player. Should they have lost as much motivation as they did, nope but can you understand it, yup. Without Cabaye and no replacement they lost any hope of european finish, certainly no chance of Champs league and no real chance of relegation, they also never dropped below 10th place in the second half of the season.

They improved significantly in the first half of last season after a while finding their motivation again and bringing new players in. So the only two periods they had bad form there was a monumental injury crisis the likes of which no team wouldn't drop massively or the club sold the season out from under the players and gave them absolutely no reason to play at all. Had they not won a single point in the second half of the season they wouldn't have gone down due to how good the first half was, as it was they finished 10th and never dropped into the bottom half of the table.

He's been doing a great job since he came back to the premiership. 4.5 seasons there only 1.5 seasons were bad, 2 were excellent, 0.5 was decent enough(last half season in charge).

Found this on redcafe, a little while back

Newcastle fans just wont admit that they are wrong about this one.

Exactly. The were the same with Allardyce. Have you ever seen a Newcaslte fan mention that when Allardyce took over their results improved, yet they blamed him for all their problems. It made no sense at all. I can have sympathy for those who didn't like his style, but half of them we blaming him for their results and league position, despite the fact he was taking them up the table! When they got their way and he was fired and replaced by their hero Kevin Keegan, they plummeted. Yet never once do you hear them say anything good about Allardyce. Like i said, I think it's fine for them to not like the way they played under him, but they could at least acknowledge that he improved them and sacking him was the biggest reason they ended up getting relegated.

You ask the average football fan about Allardyce's time at Newcaslte and they'll say he was a flop and it's because their fans convince everyone he was, when in truth he blatantly did a decent job in the conditions he had to work under. Ironically it could be his appointment at Sunderland that sends Newcaslte down.

Zaha is shit and wouldn't do well at a good club.

2 goals and 0 assists all season.  Rubbish.

He loses the ball loads and commits loads of fouls.

Crap player for any team better than Palace.

There's admitting you were wrong to things, which is fair enough. Those posts are essentially saying that we can't admit we were wrong over things that simply never happened. Allardyce had us on the up and Pardew had the club's worst injury crisis in 12/13? [emoji38] You only need to look at Roeder's in 06/07 (iirc) to see a much worse one.

So would be an excellent player for us!! Because Palace are head and shoulder above us on the field if points tally is anything to go by.

Think we aspire to play at a higher standard than Palace...  Wouldn't go near him.

Who is we? The people at the club would fap themselves silly to be where Palace are (regardless of how this season went).

Yet he was totally complicit in it. Spineless f***ing w*****.

Exactly. Making himself look like an even bigger tw@t (if that's possible) by coming out and complaining about it now. It's not that long ago he was dedicating victories to Mike Ashley ffs.

He'd be in the dugout for Leyton Orient or some other two-bit London outfit if it wasn't for Newcastle's bullshit policies. And he knew it whilst he was here, hence why he put up with it and lauded his cunt of an employer in public every chance he got.
