Can’t see us getting the same as Arsenal and Chelsea?

What a horrible deal for Tottenham. Only £30m and through 2033? They finished top 4 in three years since signing that deal. Castore getting a bargain from us for £5m. I'm not sure why we didn't just buy them out.

Presumably you can only do that if there’s a break clause in the contract and if both parties agree? Knowing Ashley, he’d never pay any money to do something like that so probably didn’t have anything included.

PL can say they won’t sign it off, like Chelsea’s deal. That was related to the TV deal but I’m sure it would come under their ‘above £1m’ scrutiny for being fair and proper.

Ah right

"Fair market value" won't apply will it? It's not a related party transaction.

Doesn’t matter does it, when the value is above £1m? Thought that was the value for any transaction?

ahhh…just reading up…

“Additionally, clubs will now be required to submit details of commercial deals worth more than £1m to the Premier League, which will then consider whether it is an ‘associated party’ transaction. If so, the transaction will be subject to the FMV process.”

so it still goes to the PL but they then can’t do anything at all if it’s not a related party?

If market value is fair, i know we won't be, but what if we matched Man Utd's deal. Can they and the other scummy 6 stop it somehow ? I 'm sure they'll try like.

Man Utd have just signed a £90m a season deal with Adidas. You would think Man City and Liverpool will be getting those figures soon. So £60m would still leave us behind.

I’m sure it’s been rumoured to be about £40m though, which would still mean we have left the rest of the Premier League clubs.

In regards to elsewhere, Benfica are with Adidas, and gain good sales in Portugal and Latin America, their deal is only supposed to be worth about £5m per season.

For what it’s worth, it will be massive news if we become an Adidas elite club. They only have 5 teams who are elite, not even Benfica, or Ajax are classed as elite. Being an elite club would mean that our shirts are sold in every single Adidas store in the world.

Maybe negotiating an 'elite' status contract between ourselves and adidas helps us to justify the fair market value amount? Just spitballing here obviously but if adidas know they're about to make a bomb in sales and we need the income then maybe we've scratched backs enough to come to a mint deal for both parties?

One indication that we would be in elite club status as if they offer us the long sleeve shirts option like Real, Man U, Arsenal. Clubs like Leeds,Leicester, Ajax, Celtic I believe do not have the option for there shirts.

here is a website gives a breakdown of different Adidas tier system(a little old now from 2020)

imo I think will be in the premium tier, which I still will be happy with, really like Adidas so looking forward to next years release.

Yup I think 'elite' tier is out of the question at the moment. We have elite owners but realistically we are not an elite team.

Its slightly disappointing to me that we wont get the very best adidas has to offer.

Personally I'd be all over a trefoil t-shirt with 'magpies' in place of the adidas font.

I think we’re absolutely getting the big club elite status with them, particularly given the press around and who supposedly from adidas was sat there in those meetings. This is a big time coup for them. I’m assuming it was either them or Nike too.

Juventus deal was reportedly around £45m/y so that would put us on a similar level. Seems likely then that we will get elite tier status, but might depend if we qualify for Europe again

Id guess 30-50m deal?

I'd also love them to come out with a remake of either of these. However, I'd imagine 3rd kit would now be a combo of any colour with green instead of blue

Hope it's either a progressive, performance based or short term deal so we're not left behind in a few years on a long deal which by that point could be considered poor like that Spurs deal running till 2033.

I’m sure it will include bonus as our deal with Sela seems to according to episode 2 of we are Newcastle.

‘What had we recently won at the time of them initially signing the deal with us in 95? They know how much stuff they can sell to us when the fan base is engaged, regardless of our trophy haul or lack of.

True, but the elite clubs sell shirts in the low millions each year.  Until NUFC has a global reach, our sales are likely to be (at most) in the low hundreds of thousands.  Bayern & Real Madrid, for example, sell just over 3m per year each - which is more than the population of the North East.  Man City, by way of another example, sell c.1m per year.

Definitely the most important deal we make so far given that Adidas aren't going to pay money which isn't "fair market value" as there's nothing in it for them to pay over the odds.

This will be used as a barometer for future sponsorship deals so if this is one of the top 4-5 deals in the league, when it comes to our "Saudi related" deals, we can use the Adidas sponsorship to justify future big deals.
