So aggressive sweetie, You can’t just take them to court straight away, you have to go through arbitration first, you have to follow the rules set out first, before you go to court otherwise the court will throw it out

Did Ashley wait for arbitration with regards to the anti-competition case, nope he didn't.

Fucking ridiculous how you are limited as to what income you can bring in through sponsorships, but owners are allowed to “buy” a club with high interest loans, which are then a liability to the club.

Backwards but I suppose not surprising.

And he didn’t take them to court either, it was a pre hearing to see if the club could take the PL to court, and currently there was no decision of that pre hearing.

We finished in the middle of the league

Man City / Man United get 60 million ish for short deals

We should be able to get 20-25 million

potentially 5-7 million for sleeve sponsor

we could also get a training gear sponsor / stadium sponsor / accommodation partner/sponsor

It all adds up

No we won’t be able to get £20m+, West Ham have finished above us for years and their sponsorship is worth £10m, there is no way the PL would see a clubs new sponsor of £20M+ that finished in the bottom half of the league as fair value

So he still went through the process of starting an anti-competition claim and the hearing was heard before the arbitration case was concluded. He didn't wait for arbitration, which it what you were saying had to be done.

Seems like needless gatekeeping to complain about people wearing a toon top. Even if it looks shit on a particular person st James’ looks ten times better when everyone is there in black and white. Not to mention the money goes in to the clubs revenue streams and increases our transfer budget.

Yeah, as much as I don’t wear football shirts unless I’m playing football, watching a match, or lounging around it, it seems to be a bit of a dickhead move to complain about people getting them.

Lets say these adults didn’t buy a shirt and went to the match, instead you will get people salting them for wearing either Chav like clothes or people going to a football match wearing a smart shirt. There is no way to win really, just look at everyone having a pop at people wearing Stone Island stuff. Again it’s not something that I would personally wear, but just lay off people.

On top of this, shirts are likely the biggest non-match revenue a football club makes, buying them helps fund players and wages, alongside everything else going on at clubs. Ok that may not be so much of a case for Premeir League clubs, but for others it’s a huge deal, and even for some Premier League clubs it can be the difference of making 1 more singing or a players wages.

To which we still don’t know the outcome, for all we know it was going to be thrown out as we hadn’t followed the process as the PL set out.

You're still wrong though, you said the club had to go through arbitration first. The laws of this land, supersede rules any establishment have in place.

This just highlights the ridiculousness of the whole thing. We won’t be allowed a sponsorship deal that’s a third of Man City?

We appear in the same league, on the same TV channels to the same audience.

I would like to see someone make an argument in court as to why 30% of a their sponsorship deal is too much for us.

If people like West Ham have sold themselves cheap, that’s their lookout. I don’t see how it could possibly be fair to use that as a yardstick for other clubs.

Fair value based on what another club someone decides you're bracketed with negotiated for their sponsors.

Sounds fine aye

Good luck to the club's below us negotiating their sponsorships to Mike and charners work, yikes.

Even if we do break FFP what are they going to do? Everton have clearly already broken it and there has been no consequence at all and they're continuing to spend. If they can just ignore it then why can't we? You can't pick and choose who and when you apply your bullshit regulations without being ripped apart in the courts.

It would be ripped apart in court anyway.. imagine a growing business being stopped from making the same money as a market leader .. wouldn't last two mins

Everton have apparently worked with them as they suffered Covid losses (for which the numbers seem ludicrous) but yeah they could hit us with points deductions and fines

Though if we took the matter to the courts there's no chance it holds up

I think the club are going with the less confrontational approach to begin with, if the PL continue to play silly buggers then it might be a case of "rolling our sleeves up"

But it can't just be judged on the previous year's league position.

Evertons covid losses are a complete mockery of the allowance given.

Get a Big 4 firm to come up with some very clever algorithm that factors in size of club, number of Nigerian Twitter fans, club branded noodles sold in Singapore etc.

Are we all not getting ahead of ourselves? We don't know the criteria for fair value, it won't just be league placings.

It's crazy how they've gotten away with claiming double the losses of any other club

I think it’s actually great. What if an economic down turn happens and we decide to write off player trading losses due to unfavourable conditions like they did. Seems like a fantastic little loop hole.

At the time I'm sure it was said (might have been reports rather than anything official) that it's based on similar level clubs, quite how that is worked out is anyones guess

It is such a rabbit hole and made all the more difficult for us as Ashley years are in no way a reflection of the club. Apart from our crowds, everything was so far below where we would naturally be.
