"It’s an Achilles problem, and we’ve got to take care. I think it’ll also be difficult in Portland because of the artificial surface."

McClaren on Colo! We really do need Mbemba and another CB (nothing new)

while the 3 new signings look like being the type of quality additions we have been wanting and needing it has to be said that yet again NUFC are having a pretty shambolic pre season.

The club new this summer would be a short pre season with the start of the Premier league brought forward due to the Euros next summer but we have had the delay in appointing the new manager/coach, with the knock on event of the transfers coming later then we'd have hoped.  Personally knowing we were having a new coach coming in I would have thought we would have got new players in as quick as possible so that they can get intergrated into the team ready for the new season starting and give the maximum time available for the new coach to work with the squad to get his new ideas and way of playing worked out on the training pitch.  Then to top it all off we have another strange tour to USA to play games that seem to have been thrown together,  not sure if that had anything to do with the original schedule being scrapped but the players have spent thousands of miles travelling to play 2nd rate opposition, totally topped off by the final game being played on a surface deemed unfit for half the players!  Now they will be back from USA, probably given a day off to recover from the travelling before 2 days training before our next match.  Is it any wonder we pick up injuries?  Questions need to be asked about who organised and arranged this pre-season schedule.

Luckily we should have our fitness work all done and the "real" pre season can stat this weekend when we get the new players on the pitch and can look to get a starting 11 ready for the 8th August.-

Mate has a theory that the more we lose at pre season the better we've been in the season, pretty easy to disprove but tbh I don't read too much into it. It's going to take a while to wash all the pardew away and don't expect any early season miracles either. We're still at least going in a positive direction.
