Our (English) game is corrupt, but not in terms of bribes and bungs, its more corrupt in terms of favouring bigger teams, money inequality and refereeing standards etc. Probably one of the reasons we haven't hosted a major tournament since '96, we are too honest, well too honest for FIFA and UEFA anyway.

1996 isn't that long ago in terms of major tournaments. Countries rarely host two tournaments in that space of time. Also England tried to bribe Jack Warner in the 2018 bidding, someone else just bribed him better

Manchester City have been reported to Uefa after fans were heard booing the Champions League anthem before their win 2-1 over Sevilla on Wednesday.

Match delegate Geir Thorsteinsson, the chairman of the Iceland FA, detailed the incident and disciplinary proceedings have now been opened, with the case set to be heard in November.

It is understood Manchester City will not be commenting on the issue.

However, the club are expected to defend their fans at the hearing.

It is not the first time Manchester City supporters have voiced their anger against Uefa.

Last year a City fan group led a protest  against European football's governing body after 650 CSKA Moscow supporters gained access to the Khimki Arena for their Champions League game, despite the Russian club being ordered to play it behind closed doors.

CSKA were handed the sanction as punishment for a series of offences including racist chanting.

They're all a bunch of petty divas, the football governors of the world. UEFA deserve nothing but ridicule for that investigation.

Looking at YouTube, they've done it loads of times so not sure why it's been flagged now.  This video's from November last year:

Yeah, we have had a bunch of unsuccessful bids since we last hosted a major tournament in 1982, too.

The Irish Football Association has been fined 7,000 euros following pitch invasions by supporters as Northern Ireland qualified for Euro 2016.

The Uefa fine was imposed as a result of fans encroaching onto the playing area during and after the victory over Greece at Windsor Park on 8 October.

Northern Ireland won the match 3-1 to secure their place at next summer's Euro 2016 finals in France.

The Irish FA has confirmed that it will not be appealing against the decision.

The sanction for the pitch incursions was imposed by the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.

The victory over the Greeks sparked scenes of wild jubilation as Northern Ireland reached their first major tournament in 30 years.

Following the win over Greece, Northern Ireland drew 1-1 away to Finland to secure top spot in Group F.

If the powers had it guaranteed that the game would lose none of it's marketability & money by getting rid of fans who attend the game, they almost certainly would.

O0

Absolutely bang on.

They have nothing but contempt for us really, would love to hear some of the private stuff said by 'the powers' within the game.

Utter corporate sluts the lot of em. Money comes first, second and third.

Game is coincidental to their 'package'. It might just have well as been fishing/angling to them.. All about the bung.
