I don't like saying it, but the sending off might be good for him in the long run if it makes him less reckless in the tackle. He's going to miss 3 games now when he was clearly champing at the bit to be in the starting line up.

I don't think they are dirty challenges, more clumsy IMO, but they are dangerous, doesn't matter about the intent. He came down on one of their players and just missed stamping on their shin while the player was down from memory, pretty sure it was replayed and pointed out by the commentary team as well.

And I thought Sissoko thoroughly deserved the yellow early on as well. Thought the red did fine to be honest. To me as clear a red as you will see would be someone punching someone in the face. Accidentally stamping on someone because you were slow to the ball is not 'as clear a red as there is'.

 

And it wasn't even that big an impact on the Arsenal player. Pretty tame, could understand a yellow due to studs up but red is over the top.

Simple question... Taking off any black and white specs that we all wear, if those tackles were made on our players would we or would we not have been shouting for reds.

 

i'd say there's element of truth in this but that's what home crowds do isn't it, appeal for anything...we were the home team and there wasn't a bad tackle in the fucking match man

Haha...you can argue all the like about it man. Fact is, the rules are the rules and Mitrovic did something that IS a red card. No denying. Whether it was harsh/clumsy or not is irrelevant really.

 

You'd be hard pushed to find many neutral fans watching that who disagreed with much that the red did, barring a few harsh yellows after the red card.

Well maybe I am just imagining the rules have changed a bit since the days of Vinnie Jones, and these days if you miss the ball and rake someone's shins with your studs it's a good chance it might be a red.
