AyeDubbleYoo
Not a chance I would swap Mitro for Negredo, the guy is finished. 9 goals and 4 assists last season in a team completely devoid of creativity, playing up front on his own. He's still only 31 Mitro got only 8 goals and 6 assists in the championship? I don't see how Negredo is finished? Fair enough if you don't rate him but the stats don't seem to back up your statement. Also bear in mind the guy would be being coached/managed by Rafa - i'd be far more confident of Negredo getting 15+ goals in our team than Mitro next season. Negredo could barely be bothered to run for most of last season. Anyway, it's a fairly pointless comparison. Obviously I would replace Mitro with someone better, that goes without saying for any player.
Kanj
I'd assume we could get a striker for 15m that would score / assist similar to Mitro. So if we sell Mitro and get a striker better suited to our system then I'm game for it.
Shays Given Tim Flowers
What we really need is a striker who is competition for Gayle. I'm more than happy with Mitro as 3rd choice and something different from the bench. That said if his sale is the only way to get the comepetition for Gayle then I'd reluctantly sell. Even with a new signing to compete with Gayle, I can't see a scenario where we don't need to keep Mitro around really. If Perez is considered a striker too, then maybe. Guest
3 goals in about 2.5 games then? Unless we're after Messi/Ronaldo figures people can't throw his main criticism at him yet.
Paully
3 goals in about 2.5 games then? Unless we're after Messi/Ronaldo figures people can't throw his main criticism at him yet. Agree but he was dreadful until the goal today mind!

Guest
It's the same size balls and same size goals. He's getting in the box for the tap-ins which was a criticism. Who'd have thought someone just turning 23 might start to show signs of improvement in that department.

Agree but he was dreadful until the goal today mind! And after... He's just not very good. So slow. Rivière looked better his first pre-season than Mitro has in any of his pre-seasons. Likeable lad at a stretch but that's it.
afar
I thought he was good today actually, was getting into positions, that's the main thing. Could of had a couple more and certainly should have had a penalty.

Figures 1-0 Football
3 goals in about 2.5 games then? Unless we're after Messi/Ronaldo figures people can't throw his main criticism at him yet. Agree but he was dreadful until the goal today mind! And Gayle was dreadful in a lot of games last season, but scored, and people used that as a sign that he was a good striker. Mitro has done reasonably well this pre-season, looks a lot trimmer and fitter than he has been since he's been with us and has clearly worked on his work rate - closing down significantly more, whereas previously he'd just lumber around the field. As I've previously said, he's already knocked the ridiculous red cards/theatrics on the head and seems to be more controlled aggression. He's young and needs to improve more, but he's looking better and better the longer he works under Rafa imo.

Teasy
It's preseason man. Alan Smith scored for us in preseason. Aye so did Shearer. Before anyone has a go at me for comparing Mitrovic to Shearer its not worse than comparing him to Alan Smith. Simple fact is last season we played better as a team every time Mitrovic was in the side. Gayle is undoubtedly a goal scorer, but we dominated games with Mitrovic up front. He's another option and he does change the game when he comes on. How people can't see that I've got no idea.

People just know how to evaluate a player base on his on ball skills and physical attributes. Positioning, off the ball movement, tactical value...stuff that not showing on screen are completely ignored. Mitrovic has been unfairly treated and singled out numoerous times here. Cronky
At this level, his only real strength is as a target man. If his finishing was a bit better that might compensate for his lack of pace, but unfortunately that's not the reality. He would probably function better in an old fashioned 4-4-2, with another striker feeding off him, but that's not the trend in top level football. Shush
Agree Mitrović would look better with a partner up front. I'm really torn on him. I think he will get a lot better, it's just the gamble on whether we can afford to have him developing and missing chances during such a delicate season. Elliottman
I realised last season that he's just not a natural goal scorer. I like the lads, and on his day he can be a handful but the amount of games last year, especially at home where great balls were delivered and he was nowhere to be seen drove me crazy. Personally I don't think he's a good one at that, especially for his size. He should be bullying centre-halves but loses more than he should in the air. If we're not going to get anyone then we need to keep him for cover, but ideally we should sell him and get someone more mobile in who is suited to Rafa's system.
