Newcastle United 1-2 Watford - 19/09/15 - Post-match reaction from page 21

Wijnaldum has been anonymous. He needs to try and get on the ball and drive this team. Expecting more, especially due to his apparent leadership qualities.

Yep, he needs to be the one taking the game by the scruff, particularly being the centre mid. Something wrong when a centre mid barely sees the ball. We're not even playing hoofball either.

Our midfield will never work under McClaren, he wants two of them sitting so deep they're almost part of the back line then his front "three" to far forward laving a massive gaping hole.

And what evidence is there that McClaren won't learn/adapt? Have you seen much of him prior to us? Seems a bit extreme to say "will never work" IMO.

Well it has been a massive problem since our first game under his management and he has shown no desire to change it despite it being obvious from very early on.

You can't change your system every game though otherwise nothing will ever stick. Grand scheme of things we're only a few games in and the players won't adapt to anything if we're constantly chopping and changing.

I do think it's time he changed it though, as it's not working.

The system is falwed and has been since day one, a lot other teams use 4231 to success but their 2 don't usually sit on the toes of their centre backs and then have a massive hole in the centre of the pitch.

We've had that problem ever since Pardew got his teeth into the job. McClaren doesn't seem to know how to change it either.

Just seems like there no fight in the players at all. No desire to press and win the ball, no urgency. If we can't beat Watford at home who will we beat this season? Apart from the Man U game we have looked piss poor. 6 games in and 2 goals scored. Relegation form that. Needs sorting out right now.

Nothing has changed. We're still playing the 4231 that failed under the previous two "managers"

It's different to how Pardew played it, arguably an even fucking worse set up in terms of positional play, even if the desire to actually try and play football is there to a degree.

very ponderous in possession in the middle, thauvin is only one who is trying to do things but is failing miserably at the moment. Wijnaldum is doing nothing and colback with the ball slows the game down too much.

haidara looks scared of the ball, ayoze has been very sloppy.

Can't see how we are going to get back into this game at all. Aarons and deJong for Sissoko and colback. Drop wijnaldum back???

The big gaping hole in the middle is worse under McClaren, can't believe I am typing this but it is.

Colback needs to brought off at half time, no idea what Cisse and Perez are doing play so far behind and pretty much on the left wing.

Watford have done fuck all apart from run at us, but at the back we have been so shit that we have basically handed them the game.

That's because Pardew jusr had everybody sitting in our own half.

FFS. Sissoko has been our best player by an absolute country mile. Are you watching the game?

t's not taken long for any optimism to disappear. Players are just clueless and not interested. It's very much going to be a relegation fight. 3 wins so far in 2015 and 6 points from a possible 51 if we lose today. :(

It's very much going to be a relegation fight, but it's been coming for years. Buck stops with the owner.
