Mick
RIP Howard. For those that don't know him, he was born in Ryton and is most famous for what he did while managing Everton who he guided to two league championships, the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. He's one of the managers that I would have liked to have seen us get, we tried and failed.

Big Geordie
His Everton side was great to watch during the 80's - some great games at St James' Park. My condolences to his family.
Wallsendmag
Can't believe he was only 69. It's 30 years since he won the League title with Everton which means he was only 39. Always thought he looked like a bloke in his 50's back then. RIP.

Interpolic
Aye there was a big scandal around Speed's departure from Everton, it's all on NUFC.com. Anyway RIP, his glory days were a bit before my time but he was a very good manager by all accounts.

Big Geordie
He actually turned down the NUFC job, after Willie McFaul was sacked back in 1988. At that time, he was managing Athletico Bilbao.
