Minhosa
2 fantastic home performances, 2 putrid away ones. Hard to say if that sums up him as a player or us as a team. Yep - fair comment.
Guest neesy111
Can tell this guy is a homer.
STM
He's brave on the ball. Never afraid to take risks. He pretty much spells the end of Anita like. Should be Colback too.
Guest Howaythetoon
With no defending to do and little pressure from the opposition he is a lovely footballer going forward... Other than that he will be anonymous a lot when the going gets tough so to speak. A home player perhaps!
The College Dropout
So we all know he can pass the ball well in games where he is given the freedom of the pitch, but we need him to be able to compete with the best midfields in the league home and away. Is this really the case? If he can boss 12 games out of 19 at home. 6 or so away, that's a major improvement on what we had. For the next 16 months we just need to be a solid PL outfit. Consolidate ourselves then from there push on. How often do teams go from consecutive relegation scraps to competing with the best in the league home and away? duo
Made some great last ditch tackles today.
Tiresias
Was good till about 60 minutes whereupon he must have drunk some magic potion because he suddenly became the shelvey of the everton game nad started giving the ball away trying ludicrous balls and nearly passing straight to their strikers through on goal
Jesse Pinkman
He looked like he tired after 60 minutes and lost some concentration. How many 90's had he completed at Swansea just before he left? Maybe he's just lacking full match fitness.
Tiresias
Oh absolutley, and thought was very good till then, just you know don't wait 20 mins after he's hit that point before taking him off
Interpolic
Absolutely ran the show today, pretty much a 10/10 performance.
STM
He has genuine cutting edge. That's all three goals at home which he has played a major part in.

Wallsendmag
MOTM for me yesterday. More or less everything we did went through him. Always wants to be in the ball and when he is his head is up and he's looking to get the ball forward. Something we haven't been able to do all season. We looked so solid and aggressive in midfield yesterday with him, Tiote and Sissoko in there and the 3 of them totally dominated the West Brom midfield. Yeah he was good, always moving to create space to receive the ball and always shouting to get it as well. Home fans will love Shelvey like, if they don't already. BrettNUFC
So good to see someone willing to take the responsibility in the middle of the park to move the team forward, been massively missed for a long time. One thing I'm not overly keen on is his tackling technique, naughtier than Cabaye. Loves the studs first.
BONTEMPI
Hopefully if McClaren persists with Tiote, he may be able to give this lad that bit of extra time on he ball.
duo
Totally bossed the first half. Some of those passes were brilliant to watch. It's what we've missed since Cabaye left a midfielder who can pass the ball and is direct. If he can only just find consistency - he's got ability. Big Geordie
Good analysis last night of Shelvey, on MoTD. Pinging passes all over the place and driving us forward. Was amazed at how much space West Brom gave him, although am not complaining. So good to have a ball player in the midfield again.
Figures 1-0 Football
Another good performance from Jonjo, some of his passing is absolutely outstanding. He will also hit a pass too long or make some sort of gash ball every now and again because it would be impossible for every single one of them balls he tries to play to come off - but a majority of his play was excellent yesterday. We've been needing a player like him for a long time, someone to move us forwards rather than backwards.
triggs
Think he'll perform well at home for the rest of the season but may struggle in away games where we don't control the possession, although we should be aiming to control possession in every game given how good he is at passing
Darth Crooks
This is the concern for me that out of possession shelvey and Townsend become limited. Early days mind.

True but you'd hope that this is where an in form Tiote can be of some use.
