Looking back, imagine how embarrassing we'd have been in the CL had we managed to nab 4th.

Didn't 4th not get in the Champions League that year because Chelsea won the Champions League? Thank god we didn't have that agony

Looking back on that season, it's canny funny that we managed to lose 4-0 to Wigan a week before that Chelsea game

They haven't fully figured him out yet. "Pardew is just a bad manager, not a bad man". Sorry like, but if they haven't worked out what an absolute scumbag this cretin is then they deserve all they get.

I suppose the difference is that he's not doing Ashley's bidding down there, even though he's mentioned selling Evans it didn't actually happen so they don't have that side of him to suffer on top of everything else.

It's very churlish to not give Pardew full credit for that season IMO, even if it proved absolutely unsustainable. I thoroughly enjoyed it and nothing that happened afterwards will change that.

I hated our football, the tactics and considered it a huge fluke thanks to the purples. I enjoyed watching some of our players, certain goals and beating Man Utd and Chelsea, but not much else.

Beating Liverpool with Enrique in goal, that first half vs WBA, beating Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, those Cisse goals vs Swansea, Ba's hat-trick away to Stoke weren't very enjoyable at all

I enjoyed the Liverpool match mainly for the pantomime villain roles of Enrique and Carrol. Ironically when he went in goal we faffed on and didn’t try and test him at all, sums Pardew up. There were those other games like you mentioned, but overall I detested our football and thought all the stars aligned that season. First 10 or so games we had a solid almost unchanged defence and Taylor was playing like Lascelles has been, plus Krul in goal was excellent then you had Ba’s goals and Cabaye in midfield.

Second half Ben Arfa came into it and of course Cisse, but what could have been if Obertan didn’t feature so heavy at the start and if he allowed that 4-3-3 to keep going... maybe CL footy.

He got lucky and the players deserved the credit that season, not that c***.

 He found something that worked for that team; 4-3-3, but in 2012/13 tried to be a clever cunt and change it after watching an atrocious summer go by.

The moment where the vast majority of fans saw through Pardew was the Reading home defeat and his comments afterwards imo.

He played 433 for about 5 games.

If everyone had enjoyed it, there'd have been no 'but we're 5th/6th!' argument. There were definitely plenty saying it wasn't good football and unsustainable because I remember debating it on here with those people.

I remember the first half of the season being boring but effective football. Second half of the season we played some fantastic stuff. Yes, we had some great players, but Pardew definitely had them set up right.

Nah that definitely existed, I remember it well.

I just think it can and should be separated from all the other Pardew stuff before and after. It was a good season, and IMO to suggest Pardew didn't play his full part in it is wrong and unfair.

Man... as mentioned earlier, folks obviously forgot the f***ing heaps of praise we gave him (even calling him a silver fox..) after that season ended and him winning manager of the year

He deserves a fair share of credit for that season, in all honesty people are so clouded and biased with their judgement sometimes

He's been found out to be out of his depth and a fluke of a manager for the most part but it cannot be taken away that accomplishment and he was part of the entire group of people that gave our best season in years.

I don't think I'll ever really believe that he played a big part in it beyond the Pardew bounce and harbouring the team spirit and momentum we built - which is still fair enough. How much he had to do with Ba, Cisse, HBA, and Cabaye being in the form of their lives we'll never really know, but we have enough evidence following that season to be able to say that at the very least, it almost certainly wasn't as much as we collectively thought at the time.

Very fair comment.

Fuck fairness. Never like to see that cunt get any sort of praise, no matter how minimal.

So good to see him suffering again and this time, the press seem to be getting stuck in a little bit as well. I've definitely still got an obsession with him like, don't think there's a day goes by where I don't check up on him
