Those wins essentially kept them up over 2-3 seasons. Had they lost a couple they probably would have dropped a lot earlier and would have been in a much better position to get sorted and bounce straight back, probably being much stronger for it. Yet they won them, constantly changed the manager, constantly brought in utter shit which resulted in them being in crippling and unescapable debt and they dropped anyway. Plus Wheater and Taylor are ex Boro and also North East lads - more than half of their XI are from this region. Says a lot for the quality of football in the area then!
