Wallsendmag
Phillips was an excellent finisher in his time there but was helped massively by having Quinn alongside him. Their tactics were basically lump it up to Quinn, knock down to Phillips, strike at goal. Fair play to them because it actually worked really well and they scored an unbelievable amount of goals playing that way. His all round game wasn't particularly good though. A million miles away from the likes of Shearer and Ferdinand who we had here.
Ketsbaia
Bent was good, think they had Danny Rose on loan too.
joeyt
I thought Sessegnon looked good for them for a short while. Can't remember if Welbeck was good for them or not
Mikky
I thought Sessegnon looked good for them for a short while. Can't remember if Welbeck was good for them or not Only remember that one game v Chelsea A when they won 3-0 when Welbeck, Gyan and Bent were canny
Guest neesy111
Would had taken Phillips as a backup for bellamy. Thought him and shearer could had been a decent partnership.

Heron
Love how it says Newcastle were fortunate they had the likes of Sissoko and Cabella, etc., from a financial point of view. There's nowt fortunate about it. We've simply ran our business better. (Enjoy that sentence as it's probably the only time I'll say it... )

xLiaaamx
Kirchoff is out of contract? That's hilarious considering how they were waxing lyrical about him at the start of the season
hithere
Kirchoff is out of contract? That's hilarious considering how they were waxing lyrical about him at the start of the season Played really well towards the end of last season No point keeping him to be fit 10 games a season to be fair
Guest
It really could go horribly wrong there like. I know they'll still be attractive to good Championship players like we were, but like that article says, it's not like they're going to get in about £70-80m in the summer to pay for those. Heart bleeds for them.
Dr.Spaceman
Kirchoff is out of contract? Guessing he's on a pay as you play deal?
Guest
He's 26 years old and made 116 league appearances in his career. He's only played more than 20 games in a season once.
Benwell Lad
See they were mentioned in the latest edition of Private Eye. No, not any searching questions about what went on during Johnson's last season but about the sacking of the programme editor for austerity reasons. It mentioned that he actually won awards for their programme every season for the last ten years, and at the same time a bunch of highly paid losers were swanning around Central Park and attending basketball games on an all expenses paid jolly. BlueStar
Would they actually get anyone better even if he left? And would he want to stay anyway?
Dokko
He will be good for them in the Championship, reckon they'll come straight back up with him and go on to stabilise the club once returned. Best thing all round is they sack him and they still go down.

Wallsendmag
Would they actually get anyone better even if he left? And would he want to stay anyway? He's looked liked he's wanted away since August. Hardly surprising mind when he had fans confronting him in the dug out in his first home game as manager, despite them almost holding Man City to a draw (88th minute winner) the previous week. They're not fickle though. No way. Not actually sure who they could attract manager wise. The £180m debt (and growing) they have means any new manager comes in with his hands tied straight away. If they go down this season this could be the most glorious relegation of them all, given the possible consequences.
bhoywhonder
He will be good for them in the Championship, reckon they'll come straight back up with him Course they will, as they never tire of reminding us the champo is pub league level dross, and its only Rafa's sheer incompetence that we arent 20 points clear and promoted already. Well, that is after they all forgot that they had agreed it was an impossibly competitive, relentless, physically draining and doomed slog but then we started winning. Macktracking at its finest, cant wait for their latest narrative in a few weeks time....

SteV
These c***s are f***ed. Yep, but I'm looking forward to Fleetwood away next season That's what everybody was saying about Burton this season. Then they realised you hardly get any tickets, and it's a pain in the a*se to get to by train (don't actually know if that's the case with Fleetwood, but that's what you tend to find with these 'new' teams).
