What area north of the Tyne has the most Sunderland fans? Ashington?

Non really. Ashington being a hotbed for Sunderland fans is a myth, a few of their former players from yonks ago who came from there and the myth that they had loads of fans there started. It's like saying Wallsend is a hotbed for Man Utd fans as Steve Bruce, and Carroll both played for Wallsend boys club. There is maybe 1 or two, like any town in North East with any of our clubs, but nothing that's stands out.

Mackems in total denial of their ticket situation, despite so many of them only going to games on the freebies.

And now attempting to create an alternative reality where it's not them flooding free tickets but now it's us.  Fake News but soon to be the new truth in RTG  :mackems:

If they can't sell out they just give away loads of tickets.

What a make believe world they live in.    But who would want to live in their world when it's better to live in denial.

I always got the impression that South Shields was 40/40, with 20% who swing to who is doing well at the time.

One of my mates who lives in Jarrow says it's about 80% us, and to be honest I think all of of South Tyneside is like that, aside from South Shields.

Another friend who lives in Washington and is a Sunderland season ticket holder says that Washington is a lot more closer than it should be.

Washington was more Nufc than Safc when I lived there; not sure what it's like since The City of Sunderland annexed it and droves of Mackems took refuge in The Galleries every weekend to save on utility bills. Washington Village is equidistant between Newcastle and Sunderland and Newcastle is far easier to get to by public transport.

Absolutely gets my goat every time when Washington is referred to as part of Sunderland. When I was primary school age Sunderland may as well have been on Mars as far as Washington residents were concerned, there were miles of fields between the two and there was a single bus service which took for ever. The bus service to Newcastle was great, started and finished in Cincord. Rant over.

This is the truth.  My dad's side of the family are all from Washington and although there's a few dodgy accents in there, they and most of their mates are solid Newcastle. And that's going back to the pre war era, because my dad was middle aged when they had me and I'm in my 50s. When I used to spend a lot of time with my cousins and uncles in the early 70s,  it was unheard of to go to Sunderland for shopping,  nights out etc and football was included in this.  Washington was more linked to Gateshead than Sunderland in those days.

Yet our gate receipts are 3 times higher than theirs are. If we're giving all these tickets away those who are paying must be forking out over £100 a game for those sums to add up!

Quite a few pits in Durham were closed in the sixties and a lot of workers did move to the Ashington area which still had mines so thats the story - they did used to have and still may have a few supporter's club branches up there.

Trump logic - take the news you don't like, and call it fake news. Then make something up to deflect attention and now everyone can believe the new reality.

Free Ticket Skunks will become the new truth on RTG.

They just absolutely love making stories up about us. They think things up in thier heads and if it sounds good and paints us in a bad light, it automatically becomes a fact.

Wank sock more like, what a clueless fucking arsehole.

I love how the latest narrative is that the champo is back to being a pub league and we should be thoroughly ashamed at scraping promotion. Lets see what their excuses are when they sink like a bag of hammers next year...

Oh, next season it will be ..... "its a tough league with Hull, Boro down and with Villa and Norwich rebuilt and add in Huddersfield, Leeds and Fulham playing well etc. Mags never had any strong competition and they still only scraped promotion. Blah blah blah"

The inbred t***s are really wound up and just can't take that their moment of feeling superior has just blown up in their face. Lies, bullshit and fairy tales coming out of their mouths - bless  They are going into the wilderness for a few years and will need to visit every school, college and workplace daily to try and give the tickets away as the crowds will plummet. Couldn't happen to a nicer set of fans - now go and rot for a good few years as the s*** has now finally flushed  :frantic:

I'm loving the whinging calling Hodgson for quitting and the FA for stealing their perfect manager - in a way they're right as he would proably have kept them up again.

There's such a rot at Sunderland it's easy to see them going down for a long while. Let's not forget though that it could be good for them in sense of clearing out the whole forest of deadwood they have and build something new. The thing is though it has been clear that there is more to it than just manager and players, they have paid players enough, they have gone through enough managers without any discernable change. there's something bigger wrong like Ashley for us and I dunno if they can turn it around.

Woah woah woah what's been gannin on here. You've got it all wrong.

Everyone south of the Heed and east of Jarra was a season ticket holder at Roker Park until 1992 when Sky invented Newcastle. Now all they do isn't wear their tops around the various South Tyneside and Durham shit holes whilst never going to games. Meanwhile the evil North Sea inches ever closer to the Staydiem taking die hard Mackems with it as the tide rolls out.

I'd say Shields (S) has always been a bit more black and white, the rest of S.Tyneside more so and Gateshead almost all Black and white. NW Durham - Consett and Stanley down towards Swallwell/Birtley again has a big majority of black and white. Washington and even around Durham City has a load of black and whites. I'd go as far as to say half of Newcastle's fanbase is and always has been from what was once County Durham.

The truth is most people in the north of County Durham have always regarded Newcastle as their town for shopping, socialising etc etc and have a strong connection to it.

Pretty pointless argument really as we have always had more fans than them and that is most clearly illustrated when they have been in a higher league.

Even Sunderland boy made good Tom Cowie, the last mackem to be in charge of their club, said he wished Sunderland fans could be as loyal and passionate as Newcastle's.

Just had a conversation with a couple of Makems and they both want Moyes out but don't have a clue who they want as his replacement
