Not really. It's not a case of him just agreeing and signing a contract. If he's staying then they're having to restructure the club from top to bottom and there will be people going and people coming in. That takes some sorting out. Probably the most complex contract they've wrote up since Ashley's been here. Plus budgets' clauses, lawyers. Its complicated shit.

working out how much they can actually even spend overall based on championship FFP and which players have to be sold to balance the books and still give cash to Rafa to spend

What is the fucking hold up. Just give the man what he wants for fuck sake.

We've got a world class manager, a manager none of us could have imagined us getting, possibly one of the best appointments we could make in living memory that CLEARLY wants to stay here under the right conditions.

Carte fucking blanche.

At least we aren't getting reports that Rafa and Ashley are still in "discussions"

Just a matter of time untill the fine details are sorted and he puts pen to paper.

Anyone remember how long it took for him to be officially announced when he first arrived? was a good few days iirc.

If nothing is announced by middle of next week I'll definitely start getting nervous.

the problem is almost all reactions seem plausible.

"if it was sorted it would be done by now" yeah probably

"if it wasn't going to happen it would be off by now" yeah probably

"the morons in charge are going to drag their feet and fuck it up" yeah that's possible too

Look how long it takes them to do the fans forum minutes and that's easy to corrupt... erm.. report on.

Talking about the fans thing, obviously that'll be screwed if there's a Rafa revolution.

As I've already said... why are people worried?

Rafa and Charnley are next due to meet on Monday, all details agreed verbally are currently being drafted into formal documents. This was known since Tuesday of this week, there has been and there will be no more news until early next week.

Nothing new can be reported if nothing new has happened

If he was going to leave, he already would have.

too early to get worried tbh, if it starts to drag on from next week then I might wonder if he's dragging it out to see what other jobs are available

Sounds rather positive..

The club are hoping to hold a press conference with Benitez in the middle of the week after a final round of talks between him and managing director Charnley.

Benitez has had interest from clubs in Turkey and China, but still wants to give Newcastle a chance to deliver on what he has asked for before talking to any rival suitors.

Nailed on this'll be the reason why. Keith, you clever, clever man.

New strip, proper press conference after the rugby weekend is all cleaned up and the feel good factor basically doing the selling of the season ticket, when the reality is we've just been relegated.

We should be in mourning but we're on the crest of the beginning of something that could be great. the rebirth of hope.

So that's how this football club ownership malarkey is supposed to be done.

Comments on articles sometimes make me want to go and live in a cave. Some mad c*** there ranting about how we have pre-season plans before we've done anything in the transfer market.

Comments sections are the worst form of social media. How would you even go about trying to debate or argue with someone that stupid??

Ashley is thinking about giving Rafa the overdraft budget?!

Is he really starting to understand how football works?

Good managers + money = a team that does not contain a load of fucktards.
