That's the problem with him really.  He isn't a no. 9, isn't really creative enough to be a no. 10 and isn't a wide man so what do you do with him?  He's kind of become one of those players that, while talented, doesn't really fit in any role you'd want to play him in.  Jack of all trades if you will.

It's a shame because when he first arrived you thought he was gonna be a star.  Full of tricks and turns, beating his man and squeezing out of trouble.  He's got a good finish too but it's looked for a while now like he's just going through the motions.

He scored 16 goals that year like not 20 (according to wiki), and won an award for the Segunda's 'best Attacking Midfielder', not sure he even played right up top for Tenerife but I'm just going off the limmited info we have.

In any case I think his finishing is one of the best in the squad, hence him being able to do a job up there, but he's never looked like a striker for us.

He shows a brief piece of talent every so often, but for the remaining time he is pretty useless.

Really thought he was great for the first half of the first season we had him, but over the course of his NUFC career he has been pretty dire other than those very infrequent pieces of magic. Wouldn't be shocked to see him sold because he doesn't really offer us anything now and we could easily replace him with someone better.

Spoiler tactics beats us at home.

Sort it the fuck out with this 4-2-3-1 nonsense. Buy a fucking striker if you don't want to play Mitro because this is going to end up threatening the promotion charge.

Three essentially defensive midfielders and one striker at home to nobodies in Championship is inexcusable, like. We're so easy to park the bus against it's embarrassing.

His setup has worked just fine for the majority of the season, he'll see no need to change it on the back of one poor showing.

What he will see as his task is to better organize and shape the team in Shelvey's absence. Whether lack of preparation time leading up to this or just picking the wrong lineup - I don't, for the record, think he is infallible - he'll change things up for Forest.

One poor showing? I can think of 5 poor showings at home in the league. Out of 11 it's absolutely not good enough.

It's more than one game. Teams know what to do against us. Even Rotherham nearly managed it.

Ridiculous to say considering the squad at our disposal but I'm not sure what other options we have for central midfield. Shelvey is absolutely key, without him the choices are pretty dismal.

True, but the players all over the pitch should still be able to play with some sort of urgency and tempo one would think.

His 4-2-3-1 isn't the problem, it's the players we have that are fairly better than most of this league, however aren't capable of dominating when the key piece in Shelvey is missing.

Telling Rafa to shove his formation at home up his arse is some weirdo internet rage.

He needs to sign better players quickly to sort out the over reliance on Shelvey because he's not ever going to change his basic system.

I'd much rather he play 2 up front as well, mind you.

I feel like we're winning in spite of the system, as weird as that is. Our players and general quality are doing enough but I don't think the teams are set up to get the best out of the collective. The first goal tends to dictate the result too much for me.

We're grinding our way there, don't get me wrong and I'm pleased about that, but I'd like to see a bit more variation because it's becoming too easy to play against us when we're at home.
