You haven't lived until you've experienced the Google Earth magnificence of Ipswich Town's Portman Road. Especially the view from Portman Road, complete with tramp fast asleep.

Found him fast asleep at Gate 13, clearly having used Gate 12 as his en suite. Brilliant

"In the days before they faced Germany, Argentina’s players noticed that the faltering version of Higuain had emerged. In an attempt to lift his spirits, Rafa Benitez – then his club manager at Napoli – sent a succession of text messages, telling him not to be daunted by the occasion."

Ginger Jack's name mentioned as a possible departure. Is it possible to like Rafa any more?

I wonder how long Shola would have lasted if Rafa was in charge years ago?

He'd probably have surpassed Shearer's record by now.

Yeah, who am I kidding, he'd have just completed an SAS assault course with England.

He definitely seems much mellower these days but greedy quotes about picking a manager to win a game!

Then came Rafael Benitez…

SG: Having had that fatherly figure like Houllier who was constantly putting his arm round me Rafa was the type of manager who had a distance between the players so it took me quite a while to adapt to that. For sure Rafa is the best tactician I’ve worked with and if I had to pick a manager to win a game Rafa is certainly up there but my relationship with him at times it was cold. Some days I felt like he really liked me and some days I felt like he didn’t like me at all. I think he did it for a reason and he was trying to get the best out of me and that’s what different managers do.

Seriously man he's just sickeningly lovely. :smitten:

‘Yes, I got individual Christmas presents for everyone at the club,’ he adds. ‘At this time I wouldn’t say just I was doing that and nobody else. How many did I get? Forty or whatever.

‘Yes, it was a personal present to each one that I gave in my office. You see them and you say hello every single morning. It was good to give them presents because I have a good relationship with them.’
