Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

Players who are hard to get in are normally bought right at the end of the January window. And those ones are often higher quality players.

Clubs who are desperate for players sometimes panic buy and overspend on players towards the end of the January window. We won't be doing that

Exactly.  Also some people are having unrealistic expectations of players we could sign.

Tom Carroll to Swansea

Martin Olsson to Swansea

Luciano Narsingh to Swansea

Evandro to Hull

Markus Henriksen to Hull

Oumar Niasse to Hull

Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton

Ademola Lookman to Everton

Jeffrey Schlupp to Crystal Palace

Tom Cleverley to Watford

Lee Grant to Stoke City

Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough

Wilfred Ndidi to Leicester City

Those are the only significant transfers in the Premier League so far. As long as teams in that division aren't bringing anyone in, they're not going to be selling members of their squad cheaply. As has been said above, we'll probably start to see more movement in the last few days of the window, when the fabled merry-go-round gets put into motion.

McManaman to Sheff Wed

Nugent to Derby

Gardner to Birmingham

... are the only 'significant' transfers in the Championship, two of which are loans. Doesn't really appear that anyone is doing anything much. It's not just us.

Few teams needing to sell unless its daft due to wads of tv money plus extra cover needed for afcon is making for a slow market it seems.

Hopefully it'll change but I think we'll probably only see 1 in.

Gérard Deulofeu is my guess at the player Rafa likes.

Hopefully Everton can land Depay, and we can swoop in.

That would be an incredible signing.

Aye :megusta:

Would be a great signing. :coolsmiley:

Deulofeu is way above our station. Is there speculation about him leaving Everton? Any team in or around that level would improve going forward with him in form, I really enjoy watching him and Mirallas at Everton when they play.

Benitez is way above our station at the moment, but he's here because he believes we can go straight back up and fulfill the clubs potential.  Hopefully he can convince players like Deulofeu of the same thing.

Benitez is way above our station, hopefully he can be persuaded to believe the same thing Benitez does, that the potential is there to be a real force again.

Totally agree. I'm not buying into this forelock-tugging, we're not worthy,  low self-esteem s***. We are lucky enough to be able to afford the vast majority of  players, we have a foundation for greatness and a manager with the guile and vision to get us there. Does that mean he will? (or that I'm a deluded Geordie). Of course not (and f*** off and die). But it is certain that we definitely won't achieve any meaningful progression without daring to really give it 100%. Central to this is getting the best players we can, if this means being turned down by a canny few, so what. How long does it take to write a longer list? Dare to dream and just as importantly dare to behave in a way compatible with your dreams coming true.

Not the same thing in the slightest.

It's not, but it should be an easier sell now with only half a season left and us positioned well than last summer. Not sure we're going to want to pay the fees required for anyone of his level.

I'm saying that while the club currently are at Championship level our manager's reputation is above that.  As a manager he's not below the likes of Deulofeu and he may be able to persuade him of the same thing he himself believes, that we have the potential to be a top club.
