Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Supposedly Reina's family really enjoy living in Italy so that might be a stumbling block. He's out of contract next summer so doubt he'd cost too much either, obviously his wages will be astronomical compared to any of the current GKs.

It's like Keegan with Ned

I was so sad at the time. He'd got the goal that in all reality kept us from dropping down to division 3 at home versus Portsmouth, had an outstanding season in the promotion campaign, scored 35 goals in 70 appearances for the club including a hatrick in his last match, he wasn't old 27/28 or so. Didn't see the logic in it at all. But we tripled our money on him and replaced him with Beardsley who would go on to form up with Cole, the genius of KK.

Would be very happy with Reina. Get rid of Sels, sell/loan out one of Elliot or Darlow, and keep Woodman as third choice so he can learn from Reina rather than a loan spell. He's had plenty of match experience now for his age at a competitive level so a year at the club learning would do no harm.

What about Krul, everyone seems to forget about probably the best keeper on our books right now.

Not anymore, he's crap now which is why Rafa let him go on loan and apparently wants to sell him.

What is Krul being "done" or "crap" based on?

He wasn't very good before he left us and the fact multiple Dutch teams don't want him.

Not very good but an average PL keeper at his worst IMO. He's just back from a long term injury. Which multiple Dutch teams don't want him?

I mean at the club rather than ability in particular. I cant remember any instance of a first-team goalkeeper being loaned out then a brand new keeper being signed as a first choice, only for the loaned out keeper walking back into the team.

It's pretty much identical to what's happened at City with Hart, Bravo and the Benfica fella.

Ah that's fair enough then and you're probably right

Ajax and clearly based on his reported performances Alkmaar don't either. Not being funny but if you struggle to perform in the Eredivisie then he's clearly not good enough anymore.

In Eredivisie they seem to score for fun. Doesn't that mean it is harder for a goalkeeper to perform in such league where they basicly get no help from their defenders? Not saying Ajax or AZ are wrong in their verdict, just questioning the last sentence.

He was injured for most of his time at Ajax and then couldn't displace a keeper that had obviously taken his chance well. I don't see that as evidence of anything
