Get in! Quick!

OK now it really made no sense. No goal happened at all.

Ha Ha jotenko struggles with the minute details of English slang and I cant even order a half pint in Portugal I always just accept a large beer, say thank you and pay for it with an awkward smile.

Alright people, why do you say "Get in"?

I thought you people would scream "Yes!" at goals but... "Get in"? What is supposed to get in? The ball inside the net?

 Yes.

But, if you happen to be at the match, when do you say get in?

First you scream "Yes" and then you say "Get in"? I can't seem to get it.

It's just like any other exclamation of positivity; completely interchangeable as to when you say it. "Yippee" is generally the go-to celebration in the Premier League stadiums, though.

So, per example, I see the grades of my test and I have an "A". I scream "Get in" and it will make sense, is that it?

Yes.

I'd probably shout "double decker!" in that scenario.

Yes.

So, just to end this conversation, what is the origin of "Get In"? From football itself?

Man I just find funny saying that in portuguese.

People would scream "Golo!" and I would scream something like "Entra lá dentro!"

There's nothing to make sense of. "Get in!" is just an expression of delight.

Standard usage:

"It's your favourite ice-cream for dessert, tonight."

"GET IN!"

More expressive usage:

"Your lottery numbers have come up!!!"

"GET THE f*** IN!!!!"

Got it now, thanks.
