Add that to Howe's popularity and he probably doesn't feel it's right to take the limelight on the day.
NUFCDoog Posted Monday at 13:30 Share Posted Monday at 13:30 (edited) I dunno like, playing devil's advocate it feels a bit dodgy that they've been asking for weeks for donations for a Keegan display, promising it'll be for this game, only to change it at the last minute and say it'll now be in the future. I get what they're going for and why, fully support that to an extent, but just doesn't feel right that they've built this up for weeks, all the donations have been given with people thinking it was for a Keegan display and now it's not at the last minute. Can see why some may feel aggrieved. Edited Monday at 13:31 by NUFCDoog
Wallsendmag Posted Monday at 13:46 Share Posted Monday at 13:46 Tbf Keegan not coming is something that's completely out of their control. I chucked in 20 quid for the display for him but not arsed in the slightest that it's not happening now. Well not on Wednesday anyway. It'll be used for future displays so it's not like it goes to waste.

Can only really understand someone being aggrieved if they were going on Wednesday as a kind of one off, and they specifically donated wanting to be part of a Keegan display. Even then that’s a fair old stretch and would only surely apply to a tiny minority.

When I saw him at a talk-in, I got the impression that the club reached out, and Keegan was somewhat offended that instead of an actual role, the offer was a half-time gig. No statue, nothing like that, just him being led out at half time to wave to the crowd. I can see why a bloke who has otherwise given up on football was ‘thanks but no thanks’
Whitley mag Posted Monday at 14:01 Share Posted Monday at 14:01 (edited) Anyone of these knackers saying there shouldn’t be a display supporting Howe, particularly on Wednesday are typical of the fair weather mutes who don’t get behind the lads because they’re nervous, or simply not winning 5 nil every week. Ive got major reservations about Howe, but if attending the match you back him and the team to the hilt, particularly against the arrogant, cheating scouse rats on Wednesday night no excuses. Fan base is full of fickle cunts who don’t have a clue about getting behind the lads at the match. Edited Monday at 14:02 by Whitley mag

Don’t let a minority of clowns, and youngsters who struggle to process their emotions on social media after a couple of bad/indifferent results, cloud reality. Aye, they’ll wave their flag and 90% will then sit down in silence for the 90 mins, if they don’t bail out beforehand if the going gets tough. Iwantcurlyhair2 Posted Monday at 15:27 Share Posted Monday at 15:27 In my opinion Wor Flags are beyond reproach regarding the Liverpool display , whether by match going fans or twitter clowns. The effort and work they do is phenomenal so if they want to delay the Keegan display to support the team, because they (and I) feel they need it, then I'm fully behind it. If any fan dares to complain about it, despite the weeks, days and hours they put in for each display, then they can keep the complaints until the 75th minute and discuss with their 'mates' as they leave the ground early for no effin reason and then **** off and never come back. My £2 per month is my favourite direct debit by a country mile. Wor Flags effort is unbelievable yet a percentage of our current St James attending fan can't be arsed to support the team till the end. Anyone who leaves before the end, unless for a family emergency or work necessity, should be banned for several games or have their membership revoked. Wor Flags have always been spot on at judging the moment, and as good an idea as it is, doing a Keegan retrospective seems a bit self indulgent when we have our backs against the wall and today's leadership deserves support. I could be wrong as well but not entirely sure we have communicated it would definitely be Liverpool, we certainly didn't say Keegan would be there either. I get people might be irritated by this, but now isn't the time for celebrating Keegan whilst our manager is under fire (if social media is to be believed). For one, some folk will say we want Keegan back by doing it now. Others will say we want Howe out. Others will say it doesn't benefit the team or club and others (again) will say it should be saved for a time of celebration and joy. Trust me - myself and several others have spent several hours (at least) preparing and implementing the display before it was transformed just yesterday. It's not been done without any of the considerations folk will list and ultimately they will still get what they wished for at a later date. Anyways...Eddie Howe himself has said on multiple occasions how we (Wor Flags) have shown intelligence and issued the right message at the right time. Personally, I think this is our strongest point as a group. So we've taken this bold decision. There'd be folk complaining irrespective of what we do. Folk complained about the Dortmund display last year and the Isak display at the weekend all because we lost those games. Social media is a cesspit man. Anyways...funny how folk claim we're in bed with the club on Twitter. Yet the ones making banners in reference to the clubs ownership, TV times and ticket prices and leading protest versus Ashley were some of the same volunteers. That's right, you did so much for your club whinging on Twitter didn't you... (Not you @NUFCDoog) Edited Monday at 17:10 by Heron
Iwantcurlyhair2 Posted Monday at 17:32 Share Posted Monday at 17:32 Heron, for tomorrow can we just do heads or tails to take the pressure off Bruno at the coin toss. The excitement of kicking towards the Leazes in the first half will be the equivalent of a 3 goal lead. We could embrace social media if Toon Polls could get involved and let twitter decide which way Wor Flags display needs to go and it would be a massive pressure off Bruno's shoulders. The boost in winning the toss will swing it tomorrow. If we win the toss Liverpool won't know what's hit them!!!!!! There was an audible groan at the West Ham game when the teams switched ends. Its a win win. Guaranteed 3 points and social media onboard if we win and not on Bruno if we lose. Hope it's heads. He must be bricking it now on the coin toss. 80 Posted Monday at 21:13 Share Posted Monday at 21:13 It's the hazard of trying to plan anything in advance, especially a display. There's always a chance something will come up which is more important, or makes it out of date or whatever. But you have to take the risk if you want to ever put something special together. It's to WF's credit that they don't just plough on because it suits their personal timetable, and try and do what they think is best for the club and its people. Not really seen it that way but appreciate you saying so and aye, without wanting to sound to self righteous you're right. We took the choice to benefit the team and the club, not ourselves... Honestly think folk are so short-sighted and entitled in their complaints. After all...it's a voluntary organisation. Ellis H Posted yesterday at 11:08 Share Posted yesterday at 11:08 As well as the reasons listed on the last few pages, I’ve also heard Keegan say he doesn’t want to go to certain clubs games because he doesn’t want to be a distraction. I’m sure that’s just his immense modesty speaking but given the situation he’d probably be happier with a “support the team” display. After all, if he truly wanted the adulation he’d be at our games every week. The only thing he’ll really want from this particular match is a good game reminiscent of our mid-90’s classics.
