Away on training next week and staying in the People's Republic of Worksop. Looks like I'll get a relatively local game on the Tuesday and the Wednesday. There's a bit of higher level stuff but I'm a big fan of Northern League kinda standard so that's what I've been looking at.

Long shot but can anybody pick a favourite place between Kimberly Miners Welfare, Gedling Miners Welfare, Rossington Mains and Pinxton for the Tuesday, and between Brigg Town and the splendidly named Penistone Church on the Wednesday? @La Parka looks like your lads might have played at some of these places whether league or cup, you been to any?

I've been to rossington! It's delightfully classic non league ground in the middle of a housing estate. There's also a cage in the seating so you can feel like a feral fan. Bit like at Boston.

I was born in Worksop, poor you! ;)

Get yer but down sandy lane. Chris Waddle once graced that turf.

Hebburn on a bit of a roll. 8-0 & 2-0 last two weeks and on fringes of the Play-Offs. The dream of seeing them without needing an editor on FM continues.

I've not played a version past FM 13, but there should be a chance of them coming into the game naturally without needing an editor? Granted they won't be one of the favourites for promotion, but if you save the game before the new season starts and re-do it a few times, they'll probably eventually be playable.

Great start for them though as they ended last season with minimal momentum.

Hell of a win for Heaton away at Conor Washington's 2nd place Matlock. Last minute 2-3 winner for them, meaning Redcar go 9 points clear with a huge GD advantage as well.

Still looking bleak for the local sides at the bottom though, despite a rare Blyth Town win.

Got a mate in Worksop who goes all over with Worksop Town. He tells me they are at home to Emley on Tuesday night in the Sheffield and Hallamshire  senior cup (7.45). He says Penistone or Brigg are a good shout for Wednesday in his opinion.

Cheers both, hadn't realised Worksop were at home. I'll do that Tuesday  looks like the ground should be easily walkable from the Premier Inn at Rhodesia as well. And thanks for asking about the Wednesday scoreboard, appreciate that. I think I'll head to Brigg, that's closest :)

No worries. I sent him a screenshot of your post because I knew he'd be interested.

Worksop Town Emley was an entertaining enough game. Emley played ok despite being leagues apart, not sure how it would have turned out if they'd got the goal they probably deserved early on.

Your mate and his mates were deep in conversation when I passed them @Scoreboard82 so I didn't want to interrupt, and when I passed back that way they had sensibly retreated to a stand to get out of the rain.  Thanks again to you, him and @La Parka for the recommendation  great little club, really well run and a nice feel to it. Well observed minute's silence for a volunteer there who had just died as well.

Went to watch Portishead 5 Bishop's Cleeve 0 on Saturday (Southern League Div 1 South)

Good crowd (about 500?) for table-topping match, but horrible ground.

The pitch is on an industrial estate (like S Shields), with the club house 150 metres away across a car park.

Artificial pitch with high netting surrounding, accessible on 3 sides only......with a couple of metres at most from the touch line.

Hell of a result for York last night. Watched it on DAZN. They don't look a bad team at all.

Yeah fantastic result. Itching to get back to see them having not been for a year. Need to see this lethal partnership of Stones and Pearce in the flesh.

Ollie Pearce must be a late bloomer. 30 years old but basically no trace of him at any meaningful level until 2022, since which he's scored 115 goals in 159 games. Absolute machine.

Loses his first game albeit Bay keeper MOM again.

Another defeat for the Blyth teams. Stan get a draw at the death.

Gateshead well beaten at Forest Green who are now top, only a couple of points off the relegation zone now.

They certainly are mate!

Won the last by an aggregate of 13-0 and are 6th with two games in hand on the team above them!

.just looking at the teams they've beaten in that run, all within a few points of them as well so not like they're just twatting the fodder. Would be great if they could go up!

Definitely mate - Briggs could be the difference once he gets fully settled in!
