Pilko
Don't understand why they didn't just go for Elliot at the start of the season tbh if that's the road they're going down now. Hopefully he can arrest the slide and keep them in the division. Appointing a local ex non-league manager without a proper job in years just cos he worked at the local college was never a plan dreamt up by Einstein. Proper accountants penny pincher move and it's shown.
Pilko
Armstrong gone back to U19/development coach apparently with Elliot as manager. They needed to do something, this is as good as any. Hopefully Storey and Magnay come back too.
OpenC
Anybody got any hot tips for a game that might survive the weather today? I've been waiting a week and a half to try my new camera and the Northern League is looking grim again
ponsaelius
I'd imagine your only bets are games on artificial surfaces - Consett Vs Grimsby Borough, Stockton Vs Prescott Cables, Boro Rangers Vs Easington Edited January 10 by ponsaelius
OpenC
Trying the camera at bottom of the league Blyth Town vs top of the league Redcar Athletic. Not much of a spectacle so far, standard is not hugely better than Northern League but officiating is night and day better. I honestly don't know what non league clubs did before Sam Fender and Gerry Cinnamon were a thing
Big Geordie
Spartans had a cracking 4-1 win at Bridlington Town, on Tuesday night.
trx345
John Rooney on Gary Nev's podcast today - made it all about his brother. Just a couple of videos for you to know that John Rooney was a cheat code at National League for Barrow being promoted. John has a better goal-reel than Wayne. Optimistic Nut
Just seen Mike Williamson has went from managing in the Football League, being First-Team coach at Rangers, to joining the coaching staff at South Shields. Gateshead.Head Coach MK Dons Head Coach Carlisle Head Coach. Rangers First Team Coach South Shields First Team Coach That's some path. UncleBingo
Anyone else off to the big Dunston vs Heaton Stan match this afternoon?
Paullow
So fantastic current scores in the NPL East towards the bottom. Could really shake things up if they stay the same.
Big Geordie
Spartans beat Grimsby Borough 4-0 at home and Town win 4-0 on the road at North Ferriby. No idea re Ashington as yet.
Paullow
They all held out apart from Newton Aycliffe who conceded a late goal to draw with Consett. Blyth S 4 Grimsby B 0 Bridlington 1 Bishop Auckland 3 North Ferriby (were 6th) 0 Blyth T 4 Newton Aycliffe 1 Consett 1 Ashington got thrashed at home, Dunston beat Heaton, Redcar got a stoppage time winner to remain 10 points clear at the top. Table looking a lot better now. Still 3 NE sides in the relegation zone, but other teams are more in reach, and a lot of out of form sides as you can see below. Lincoln and Silsden drew 1-1 which was probably the best result in that game as they will be 2 of the main sides those northern clubs will be looking to finish above with them 2 both being promoted last season. Pilko
Gateshead looking in right bother. Very worried the signings and appointment of a manager who has half a clue what he's doing might have arrived too late.

OpenC
Great win on the road for Alnwick yesterday at league leaders Redcar Town, finished 2-3 after coming from one down to lead by two. Clinging on by the end, reserve keeper brought on to play up front, ref played about an hour of injury time. Every once in a while a Northern League game gives you pretty much all the entertainment and drama of a Premier League game and this was one of those. Penalties, denied penalties, own goals, scuffed chances, the lot. Fucking brilliant
Disco
Been away the last couple of weeks, have Spartans bought some new players or something? Seem to have found some fight and ability from somewhere.
UncleBingo
Heaton Stan well beaten by Dunston UTS yesterday, a while since their last game and is showed. I found out yesterday that Dan Stephenson has joined Blue Star as well, another who was struggling with the travel commitments and work. A real shame as he'd really come on in the last couple of years, and has an excellent left foot.
Optimistic Nut
Hebburn only two points behind Hednesford at the top of the league with a game in hand. Wouldn't be a surprise if this time next year, Gateshead are the third placed NE non-league side after being the top dogs for years.

I just had a look and only two players from the season opener were in the squad yesterday. A little hope is a dangerous thing....

Don’t blame players at that level not wanting to go back and forth down to Yorkshire and Lincolnshire midweek like. 4 home games in a row coming up, weather permitting, so hopefully they can pick up again. OpenC
Yeah you can understand the guys who want to stay in the Northern League. I don't know how people do the travel required even at NPL level. Hoping for another couple of Northumbrian or Newcastle teams in NL2 next season, I've had far too many drives down the A19 this year Edited January 18 by OpenC
