Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle United - 24/09/16, post match from pg. 27

Rafa caused that with the subs. Hayden clearly uncomfortable playing rightback and there is no point bringing Mitro on when the players you need to feed off him have dropped 20 yards deeper.

Would have taken the point before the game though, key thing was to not lose two league games in a row

Happy with the team except for up front. Think Rafa dropped a bollock not getting a couple of quality strikers in the summer.

Should have gone 3 at the back and packed midfield.

Looked so organised and solid again till the end. Gayle on his own Dosent work and Mitrovic looks so slow so don't know what the answer is up front. Still look good enough for top 2 though

Whilst we should still be around the top two, we are in no way majorly better than anyone at the top end of the league. Going to be a battle all the way.

Inclined to agree. Obviously individual errors were massive but he wasn't very proactive at all.

hate games like that, they were scoring from 64 minutes onwards and we simply didn't react

I'd consider starting Murphy tbh

Cheick Tiote on the field and we're considering starting Daryl Murphy next game. Ugh.

Our best finisher is on loan. That's the madness of it all.

Think both me and you have said it loads recently but it really is ridiculous Armstrong didn't even get a chance

Diame needs dropping - not seem anything from this lad yet.

His finishing was woeful however I thought he contributed fairly well otherwise.

Disclaimer - any positive comment I make on today is prior to the point we conceded the disallowed goal.

Get what you deserve for being profligate infront of goal. Poor subs too.

Seems we still have a massive issue dealing with any sort of pressure despite changing half the squad. Would've taken a draw pre game though so not the end of the world.
