Florian Lejeune (now playing for Rayo Vallecano)

These 2 kits in the Spanish Cup are too similar for my eyes.

you partially colourblind?

Yes I am.

I may be going against the tide here, and it's certainly not a good tackle but don't think it was that malicious, think it was more he's s*** at tackling and went in way too heavy. Still very possibly a red but didn't look that terrible intent to me, he got the ball as well.

I thought it was an orange card.

Lee Ryder is fantastic here is what he said about the tackle "Harry Kane’s challenge on Lejuene was shocking but he done enough to pick up just a yellow card and stay on the field.

He knew the boundaries and how far he could push Andre Marriner."

He concludes that it was PL know how that got Shelvey sent off and Kane stayed on.

Bollocks, the ball was dribbling toward the touchline near the halfway line and nowt was happening. Couldn't have been less need to plough through the back of a player. Knew exactly what he was doing.

It's crazy everyone rightly saying how justified that Shelvey's red was, yet as Rafa keeps pointing out Kane's tackle was way way more dangerous than the little tap Shelvey gave Alli, yet it's not a red because he didn't mean it and won the ball ?? Both were reds imo, so too was Ritchie's wacky lash out at Alli.

I'm not disputing the rulebook as such, and I'm certainly not forgiving him - because it was moronic... but it does seem a bit bonkers to be suspended for three whole games for that. It was never like it was gonna cause any actual damage.

+1 ... Watching live (and then on replay) I thought "definite yellow", but didn't expect a red tbh. Now that others have made the case on here for a sending off, I can see that it has some legs ... just not as many as a centipede.

Straight to work after the match so no beer before or after, totally sober view. At the time I thought a yellow (level 7 view). Having got home and watched it it's a red, it's from behind and very dangerous. Not so sure on intent or malice (and when a tackle is dangerous it doesn't matter!) but from my own experience of playing and I'd guess anyone who's played even park kickabouts, you know how dangerous tackling like that is, it's why the tackle from behind is banned and he still went ahead and done it. Had Deeny, Vokes or Glenn Murray done that it's a straight red, shit, had Mitrovic done it talksport would have been pushing for a custodial sentence

So much for the level of refeering being better at this level. I thought Marriner was very poor today.

What was the motd reaction to this? Did it even get mentioned?

Commentator in the game thought nothing of it. Rafa afterwards said it should have been a red. Only Shearer spoke about it in the studio, said on another day/another ref it'd be red
