Feels like a huge pivotal transfer this for the future of the football club. Not so much for the quality of the player but if we f*** this up and don't get it done then you've got to think that'll be it for Rafa.

This summer feels eerily similar to the 2008 one and whilst not in the same bracket player quality wise, this transfer potentially has echoes of the Luka Modric saga.

Fingers crossed We get it done, even if it turns out s*** and he's no good it'll at least mean The club have done what Rafas asked

Even though I'm losing interest in the transfer because of how it's being dragged out, I 100% agree with this.

Yet another case of wondering if internal club politics is about to destroy any hope that we had left.

The Murphy saga has probably feels so important to us because of what it has come to represent: a tug or war between Rafa (wanting to spend however much) and 'Lee-Mike' (axis of evil, withholding money etc etc). Prospect of not giving ourselves a decent chance this season and/or disaffecting a manager who has the capability to make us so much better and, for many, has helped them trust NUFC (enough) to love it again, adds a ton of emotion to all these transactions. Not to mention worrying similarities to the past.

Would Murphy be that pivotal if we knew that Rafa had a price he wasn't prepared to go beyond? Or if failing to get him was swiftly followed by signing two more experienced Premeir League ready players later in the week? Don't think it's Murphy per se but what we think this means about the likelihood of future spending and the security of our manager that is pivotal. Maybe though, unless we are accurate in what we assume (good vs evil, tug of war)  then really it is only pivotal to us and our feelings, which don't influence the real situational all.

Great point however the real test of Rafa's patience will be if he gets a player sold from under him, Chelsea are apparently targeting an unknown premier league striker if that turns out to be Gayle we could have major issues

Mad bastards.  Definitely thought it would have been Gayle.

Fair enough, but my overall point was Rafa's reaction if a player was sold from under him
