The problem is that no manager is going to get 10 years to get a system going that brings the academy right up to the first team together. Ferguson did fuck all day to day work with them, but he knew everything coming down the pipeline in terms of youth talent and trusted people to do their jobs with the first team. The whole thing is in such a mess now that they need someone to do all of what Ferguson was doing and somehow coach that squad to contend with Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, City etc. It’s an almost impossible job because Man Utd are still easily the biggest club in England by some way. The pressure on Solskjaer will be massive this year. It won’t end well for him, he’s too “nice” if that makes sense. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
