They need someone who can replace Kroos, and TAA does that with his passing ability from RB. Valverde RCM helps immensely and they will spend big on a top RCB.

I’m not sure Madrid will spend big on a CB. 
 

Their policy in recent years is exploitative in the main. They needed a CB and RB last summer and didn’t get one. Lost massive squad players in Nacho and Kroos and did nothing to address it.

Not entirely true. How much did they pay for Bellingham and Tchouaméni? Just to name a few. They do spend big.

Think TAA is a bit of a victim of this era of football. In the '90s he'd be playing Beckham's position in a 442 with a more out and out RB behind him, in modern football he doesn't have the profile to play in a midfield or front 3 so has to play RB and can get exposed defensively.

 

Would personally have him as the 2nd best RB in PL history behind Walker who is imo absolutely miles ahead of everyone. Until he came along the RB in the all time XI stood out like a sore thumb, with Gary Neville being a shoo in despite, longevity and general reliability aside, never being a particularly outstanding footballer or defender.

Those are the few. In the last 3 seasons they’ve only bought a handful of players for big fees and rarely in priority positions.  Tchou and Bellingham have been the big signings.  
 

Guler, Endrick, Cama all opportunistic signings. 
 

Sold Benzema brought in Bellingham and Joselu.  Lost Kroos, Nacho sign Mbappe and Endrick.  
 

I can’t remember the last 2 CBs they spent money on. Militao is one, who is the other? 
 

It’s been an odd approach to squad building for some time.  It does feel like it’s time to spend some money on defence for once.

All the best young players, under 20 and worth over 30 million, and you're saying they aren't spending big? Adding the over 100 for Jude and 80 for Tchouaméni. Wow.

 

They've won two Champions Leagues and domestic trophies in the last three seasons, and you think that's an odd approach for squad building? 🤔

I agree. Averages a goal and assist every 3 games at right back. Thats elite.

A goal contribution every 3 games is great. If you add in the goal contributions he has for the opposition then that's 1 per game.

Huh? According to data, Trent has made four errors leading to a goal in his entire Premier league career.  VVD has 6. Go figure.

As for being an issue in Europe, Liverpool have won the thing and got to more finals with him as their RB. He’s not an issue. People will go “Yea, but Vini destroyed him”, so what? One game, it can happen if a top attacking player is on it. Salah on it in final, they maybe win 2-1 and no-one remembers Vini game.

Remember when they got totally destroyed by City in the Champions League and then lost to Barca in the league? Then next season they won the league *and* the Champions League! Crazy how things change, huh?
