AyeDubbleYoo
Not sure Chelsea are building a super team like. They’re assembling a lot of footballers who only went there for money. There’s more to football than just spending.

It’s the reason they’ve finished above us for 2 seasons mostly due to having so much more quality in depth which really counts towards the end of the season. They won’t win the CL or the league. Bur they can cope comfortably with the amount of games for the squad to requalify. It’s the number of games - especially through winter that stopped Villa finishing top 5. Delap, Pedro, Gittens joining Madueke, Neto and Jackson. Only Palmer is a proper top player of all of those. I'd have Barnes and Gordon over the majority of those players named. Isak obviously miles clear of them all. They just have strength in numbers but still fairly tame 11v11.

But if they won’t win the league or CL then they’re basically still competing in roughly the same area as us. Despite signing hundreds of players. I just don’t think I’d call that a super team. Fairs. We’re actually better than them. But we run out of legs and bodies. There’s a good chance they improve again and get 74+ points. Don’t rate Maresca mind. Stottie
Chelsea seem determined to not do it the easy way, which would be to buy a top top striker. If you have an effton of money, my advice would be to not have a defensive midfielder as your and pretty much the league's record signing. Buy a twenty goal a season striker. If you can afford Caicedo, Enzo, and Mudryk (sp?), all 100M plus?, you can afford better than Joao Pedro, half of whose goals were pens.

Yes, nobody knows exactly what we can spend but I don't anticipate us spending 200m do you? We signed Lewis Hall on loan. We could easily do a deal like that. We can also sell players. Which im sure we will. We dont need to spend 60m on every position. Whether we were linked with Diomande in the past or not is irrelevant. We clearly didn't want him and I can't think for a second its because we dont want a CB. If you want to put stock in media reports you could lean on every local journalist saying that CB is one of our priorities, or lean into us trying to sign Guehi last year, or enquiring about Scalvini. Guehi is going to Liverpool FWIW. Id rather we didn't even entertain that one anymore. Towards the end of the window we will sign a CB.

I don't, as you said yourself we don't know anything hence me speculating if we will not fill ever hole and take some strategic risks. This is a discussion forum after all.
