Yorkie
The fee for Duran is irresistible in a PSR world or otherwise. Hopefully Osula knocks on a couple more worldies between now and the end of the season and we can spend in the summer too.

Sick of Villa getting good free transfers every summer like Kamara and Tielemans while we get Kelly and rejected by Tosin
alexf
Villas owners are way more proactive than ours when it comes to navigating PSR. Yes I'd say we have made the better signings so far in Isak, Bruno, Tonali etc. But I think if Villa keep doing what they are doing they will get it right eventually. They have racked in big fees for players recently and it will allow them to go for better players in the long term.

Yeah I said previously I do worry about them getting all this potential FFP headroom, in the sense that they match our ambition and are run well. If Villa or us had the revenue if Spurs, I'd trust us/them to be a top 4 regular in a few years

What signings though have they made recently for big funds that have kicked them on? Some will stick, but with Monchi, they will waste a LOT because that’s who he is. Maybe Morgan Rogers in time looks to have alot of potential. So I think we have the better individuals but I think they have more depth across the squad. As i said they have navigated PSR better in terms of selling academy players and squad players they don't want for decent fees and also stocking the squad with 2 players in each position. The individual quality in the first 11 I believe is slightly less than ours but their second string is stronger. The * here though is they did start from a far healthier position in terms of having saleable assets in the first place and also having £100m of Grealish profit. I just feel as they build, they are slowly increasing their pot of money each time and therefore eventually they might land on a Isak level signing and kick them on to another level. I think it's clear in current circumstances they are our closest equal. Chelsea/Man city are in a different stratosphere financially and I'd say the likes of Bournemouth/Fulham etc are slightly behind us and villa. KDT
Our academy has for a long time been shit, Villa, Chelsea & Arsenal all the clubs who are doing 'well' with PSR don't have that issue. That for me is the single biggest difference.

Is it better long term? I don't know - it's a different way of doing things. They had more sellable assets to start with and a better academy so it gives them more wiggle room to move. We have tended to sit on our hands more. Sign/keep our star players, rely on Eddie to coach the limited players to bigger heights, far less player turnover overall. But equally we have got a lot less room to move due to the squad and academy the owners inherited. We've resisted the big sale to shuffle things up. Perhaps we won't be able to do that forever. The summer will be interesting. I think we're only 2-3 players off a very strong first XI, and we can recruit younger and cheaper profiles to build out the squad that can be the Durans of the future potentially. He does seem a bit hitty miss in the transfer market

You can't rely on Duran - every window he would be there with his agent in his ear over money. McGinn has hinted that he's a disruptive influence behind the scenes, and he clearly does not follow instructions on the pitch, which is the biggest no-no there is with Emery. The likes of us and you, and our fans, are so used to not thinking this way, but we need to get past the idea of a starting XI and then a supporting cast. Emery wants two good options in every position, and that is what the likes of us, and you, are going to need to make the next step forward.
brummie
FWIW i reckon we'll go for Cunha at Wolves. Only they're going to be twats over it because this is one of those one-way local rivalries we have in the west midlands and they won't want to sell to us. One of the things that stood out on the NUFC match cam when he got sent off was not a single teammate looked surprised that he had done something stupid. Regardless if you think he meant to stamp on him the fact none of them seemed shocked speaks volumes.
