Chelsea have an obligation to buy Sancho for £25m. They have to pay us £5m to break that clause.

 

Rashford will be tricky aye. He met with Barcelona representatives yesterday apparently, but I can't see how they afford him. Think it's likely we pay a portion of his wages for the duration of his contract whether he leaves or not.

Only way Chelsea don't give you 5m is if they reckon they can make more money on Sancho. They are massive gamblers so I wouldn't bet against them doing it, but it they had a Braincell they'd hard pass on Sancho and his massive wage. (He also doesn't fit the wage structure they have)

Best bet is probably trying for Maeteta as he has a year left on his contract and hasn't resigned yet.

 

As for Mbeumo, if Newcastle are really in for him, I think we'll likely get him. But don't think that spot is as big a priority for you as I really think Ahmad is ready to go there.

 

I think Amad is being looked at as a RWB. Could be wrong. His versatility means he'll play wherever need though. Mbeumo would be a good signing no matter what mind, but I don't think we'll get him over CL clubs.

 

There's something I really don't like with Mateta as well.  I want 2020 Cavani back for a year.

It's funny because these comments do come up in the media on a regular basis yet players always go where the money is. 

 

If he was so desperate to play champions league he could have renewed with Marseille.

Due to the current situation and the pressure that comes with it, it has to be someone that has some experience I think, ideally in the league too.

 

That just makes the pool even smaller.

 

Maybe Ollie Watkins could be a shout if Villa are still making him available.

They deserve every bit of criticism. It's bent as fuck and I'm absolutely sure a lot of the tap-ups, bribes, agent-stirring and 'string pulling' is very much something that'll remain unreported and/or swept under carpets for years to come.

Generally agree. Joining a basketcase like Chelsea always comes with risk and is usually a stupid decision for a player like Delap to make, but I think in this case there's much more of a clear opening for him, at least at the moment than in any other position. He'll fancy himself over Jackson (and possibly Ekitike) more than say Dewsbury-Hall would have trying to get in that midfield.

Not including the dodgy long contract loophole, if you strip out the dodgy hotel deals, car park and women's team they would have busted ffp by over 300m

 

That's on top of the inherent advantages London clubs enjoy as a baseline.

Tbf, he was probably helped by the fact that at the time we were up there as one of the best wage payers. 
 

As passionate and persuasive as he may of been, he was never really handicapped by having to say “I know club X is offering you 30% more, but…”

I also think that he was pretty much the posterboy of his time, and in the 90's many people would have signed just for him.  
Similar aura to a Zidane, or if CR7 became a manager
