There is a pot of money. Where is the greater need? At this time it's on the field. It's not unreasonable, the pot of money can only go so far. You go and spend it on the training ground, it means there is less to spend on the team. Spend it on the academy, there is less to spend on the team; spend too much on wages, there's less to spend on the team. That doesn't mean we don't spend in all those areas, because we do, but our view has been at this point in time, the priority is what goes on to the field. Does it mean at some point in time we would like to update the training ground? Absolutely, yes. Our pitches are very good, our gym is perfectly adequate and functional. Do we have a swimming pool or water facilities? No. Would we like to have it at some stage? Absolutely. The absolute gall of this little flid acting high and mighty about player investment after over a decade of underspending and one summer just gone when our net spend was about a par for once (and still only about 1/5 of our turnover). Stop trying to argue with Rafa about football you tit, you're making yourself look really fucking stupid. "Perfectly adequate" ffs :lol: £30m net spend this summer leaves £90m from just the TV Money alone to be spent on the academy and training ground. How does the club pay wages to players then? Well that's just the TV money. Our turnover 2 seasons ago was almost £180m. Howay nees, you know that I don't think the entire clubs budget can or should be spent on transfers and then the rest on training facilities. It was just to show that Charners is full of lies again when pleading poverty. Even adding in the (alleged) £93.5m in wages we paid in the 17/18 season, that still only just exceeds the TV money. There should be plenty of money available, and even if there isn't in the bank, do what literally every other company does and take out a loan to cover it. You can't just make up an imaginary contract offer to argue against what Rafa has said. I didn't make that up myself. In that interview with the Daily Mail, Ashley said that the Rafa camp were asking for a one year extension, but he wanted to sign Rafa long-term. Presumably the one year extension was to give Rafa time to see what was happening with a takeover. This has got me man...we would love to, in an ideal world, when we can save enough money, build a swimming pool. Jesus fucking christ, local primary schools can afford fucking swimming pools...the level of ambition of Ashley's club ladies and gentleman...we can dream of having a swimming pool in 10 or 20 years time. I've been watching Newcastle for over 25 years and can't recall us ever having less issues with injuries than when Rafa was here.
