Mental how Ferguson is still there like. Must be Everton's equivalent to Carver. Just a fistpumper and cheerleader on the sideline.

Ancelotti offered him a job at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti and Ferguson was a great bbc4 detective drama that never was, Carlo the suave sophisticated italian detective imported from rome has to team up with Ferguson a glaswegian salt of the earth bobby who has seen it all to investigate corruption on the liverpool docks

Spend £300m in 3 years and have fuck all to show for it. I'd normally say he's the fall guy but he deserves the bullet. Only one more they can throw under the bus now.

He 100% deserves the sack. Must be the worst DOF in recent memory. But at the same time I don't understand why they renewed his contract in April. His contract was ending in summer. They could have just let him leave. Now they will have to pay out his three year contract. Very weird decision making.

Just shows how badly they have been mismanaged. You must be loving that even with cash your local rivals amount to nothingness.

Didn’t realise Brands replaced Walsh at Everton, assumed he was still there.

Was reading up on Walsh’s signings and found this:

In addition to the expensive players that Everton signed, Walsh also recommended Hull duo Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire for a combined £20 million and teenage Norwegian striker Erling Haaland for €4 million

 Deary me.

Walsh was hit and miss it appears, but not as bad as Brands:

Gueye, Pickford, Keane, Calvert-Lewin all brought in during his period.

But Tosun, Klassen, Sigurdsson and Bolasie also products from his time.

He knew the budget (or lack of) he was going to get. He knew the players at his disposal. He spoke publicly to the media after his appointment praising the owners ambition and quality of personnel already at the cloob. One long term injury to DCL and one month injury to Richarlison shouldn't excuse the league position they are in.

If he gets fired for poor results it's all on him imo. Hope he gets them back into winning ways, except against us, and proves the Everton fans wrong.

Nice to see the circus has shifted to Everton; tent and all. With our new Owners, coaching team and fans once again united, we can enjoy the moment whilst the media have their field day mocking other clubs

Still no idea why he took that job. He was asking for misery.

The reasons are obvious, he gets to manage in the premier league in a location which suit him perfectly.

I’m sure he weighed up the whole host of cons as well mind and I’m sure he concluded he could get the fans on side and turn it around at this moment that does appear to be unlikely however.

Don't know why anyone would want Everton with or without Rafa to succeed. Such a horrible bitter club and their scouse mackem tag suits them well.

Rafa is getting exactly what he deserves by going there. No loyalty to counter his massive ego to stop him taking the job. Imagine after this he rocked up at Sunderland, you still want him to do well then? He's completely fucked up his career since leaving us. He'll never manager above the level he's at now and will be looking at lower end prem clubs if he wants to stay comfortable in England. He really is a Spanish Alladyce from this point on going from average club to club picking up sack windfalls to booster his retirement pot.

I love Benitez's time here but it sounds like his politics at work again.

His politics? Eh?

Seeing off a bad DoF who doesn’t support him is bad now?

Eh? I really don’t get the dislike for Rafa after what he did for our club in the midst of 14 or so years of abject misery.

Unreal.

No dislike here, just a different opinion on how he's gone on since leaving. I've said I'd have had him here before Howe arrived, in fact after Emery rejection he was my no1 but to think he ever stood a chance in the everton job shows a real character flaw, however you want to frame it. For me it's ego. He really thought his ability outweighs evertons hate of everything red, it was a silly move as was China but for very different reasons.
