“Lampard has got them competing”.

Points away from home: 0

Its the way the media work - PFM good, everyone else bad....  ignore the facts, promote the falsehood.   just look at the media and Steve Bruce......

Its getting to the point now that I just can't be arsed with any media/journalist, they are just so full of shit!

Factor in the fact that Man U and Chelsea barely lifted a finger against them - they have been quite fortunate

late equaliser vs Leicester - 108th min goal vs us

From what I was watching, Everton worked their socks off against us, Man Utd and Chelsea and made us and them look very ordinary. It's more a compliment to Everton than criticism of their opponents imo. Their fans should take a lot of credit if they stay up, for cheering their team on and making Goodison a nasty place to play for visiting teams.

They were six points above the relegation zone when he was appointed!

More journo revisionism so they can blow smoke up that Tory PFM's arsehole.

Generally resent telling a club's fans that someone they dislike is actually brilliant. We've had it for years with Bruce, Pardew, Allardyce. Everton fans know their club far more than any of us and too many say he did a shit job for him not to have done.

I'm of the same opinion.

Obviously they were in a better position when he was binned than they are now but they were clearly on a downward trajectory - they'd lost 9 of 13. They got 4 wins in August & September then only won one more until he was binned in January.

Would he have turned it round? Maybe, maybe not. But I can at least understand why he got the boot.

I don’t see much evidence they’d be in a much better position, if at all, if he’d stayed. They were on the decline for weeks before his sacking, so it’s not like Lampard has made them any worse really.

The guy is a legend but it won’t work out everywhere for him and it’s fair to say he made mistakes there if the people that follow the club think so.

Surely Lampard was faced with a pretty uphill task anyway given the sorry state of the team when he took over, as opposed to Rafa at the season start, so Rafa has to take blame for that even if the club’s issues do run much deeper.

Unless Everton are smart with their transfer window, they'll be in trouble again next season.

They’re probably best off flogging DCL for big money and offloading some of the wasters to free up the wage bill. Even then they'll need to invest wisely.

The tweet above says Everton are now competing & have a chance. Hardly describing it as a miracle.

I was just talking generally. The media will be tugging Lampard off all over the shop if he keeps them up.

 Got them competing? Until they are safe, quit with the hot takes. They could lose their final matches and get relegated and where does that tweet stand?

As it stands, Lampard and Benitez have the same PPG at Everton.  Benitez was a disaster there, but to say Lampard has worked some kind of miracle is lazy. That'll be the narrative though.

Of course but a comparison is always going to be flawed. Rafa was there from the start of the season and had no poor run of form to pick them up from, whereas Lampard had to take over a team near the relegation zone where morale was clearly very low having lost 9 from 13 - form was also even worse therefore.

Whatever other issues there are at that club (loads I imagine), Rafa was terrible.

Yeah, I'm not sure 'competing' is the right term, maybe 'Diving' or 'Conning the ref' would be more suitable. They were exceptionally lucky against us, helped out greatly throughout the match by shit officiating and poor VAR decisions. From what I gather it's been the same in most of the other matches that they've fluked points from recently.

No arguments here, Rafa was a terrible fit for them. I just don't think they're that much better under Lampard.

The only reason they beat us was because some little nerd zip tied himself to the post and we had 27 minutes of stoppage time.

Dubravka trying to save Iwobis shot without his arms down the middle of the goal didn't help either like.
