Gallowgate End
What they going to try tell us next Rondon secretly hated playing under Rafa so didn’t want to sign for Newcastle All this garbage PR stuff to make Steve Bruce look good is revolting. The only thing that will make Steve Bruce look good is if Luke Edwards turns the table upside down at the end of the season. Which he probably will knowing him. TRon
Ha! No. I don’t share those views on Rafa, I think he’s the best manager we’ve had apart from KK & SBR. But it’s very possible the players don’t feel quite the same way as the supporters do.. A good example would be a bunch of much more talented players actively trying to undermine Sir Bobby. They’re not the most intelligent bunch, professional footballers. Situations are relevant, if they didn’t like being challenged technically by a meticulous manager like Rafa, it would be the same thing as coming into work for us and having a dickhead boss hovering over us and finding fault with everything we did. We’d soon hate coming into work. It’s not unfeasible to think a core group of players who had access to Charnley or Mike Ashley made it known that they would prefer a more easy going coach? I doubt any player would have gone behind Rafa's back to Ashley. I think that's fantasy land. But there will be players who don't particularly like Rafa's analytical style. Gerrard never particularly seemed to like him, and neither did Bellamy, even though he was good for their careers. Some players need the manager to be their mate, not just the boss. So I would agree, there do seem to be a few who are quite happy to see Bruce here.
Consortium of one
Sounds to me like Benitez wanted to spend money on facilities, youth structure and spend some money on "hold the fort" type players until more youth started to be developed. MA didn't want any of that, so Benitez left. End of.
AyeDubbleYoo
Some players don't like tough managers who are detailed and focus on organisation. It's hardly a new thing. In general footballers couldn't care who the manager is as long as they're comfortable. That doesn't mean the performance of the team won't get significantly worse. Guest chopey
If a player say's he's not to keen on a manager because they make them work to hard or use to many tactics or don't kiss their arse's every 5 minutes then that's the manager I want at my club. Gerrard and Carragher don't have any personal stories about good times with Rafa but they both respect him.

Gerrard and Carragher don't have any personal stories about good times with Rafa but they both respect him. Definitely. Plus the managers who are every player's friend tend to do well for the honeymoon period, and then those same players lose respect. Glen Roeder and the current Man U boss come to mind. Minhosa
Funny that all of those players whose value Rafa has hugely increased with his coaching methodologies and tactics during his time with NUFC (Perez, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Dubravka, Longstaff etc etc) may like him a little more when they get their cut of the transfer fee's they'll generate when we flog them. Conversely when fucking square heed gets hold of them and their values plummet then the opposite. That's the value of a top top coach.

Kanji
Ain't a chance in hell that Ayzoe goes for anything over 15m before Rafa stepped in and he had that run of form end of last season.
Guest Gonzo
The core of the team and by that I mean the group of players who socialise together, almost all of them have been frozen out by Rafa at various points over the last two seasons. Hayden was in that group and he may well have been again at the start of this season if Rafa was still there. A half season in good form means nothing to that man. If Shelvey was prepared to say what he said after the match on Saturday in public, imagine what he must have been saying privately. Footballers are thick, have basically zero education and have never had to really work hard for anything or worry about the normal things people like us do. Never make the mistake of thinking that their thought processes are the same as ours.

That’s one of the thickest things I’ve read on here, or the internet for that matter. All they have to do is keep themselves in shape, practice to keep their skills up and put in a shift once or sometimes twice a week. They have their meals given to them. Have people sort out all their financial stuff and are basically finished work by early afternoon most days so they can spend the rest of their evening playing PlayStation. If you’re on the wind up, well played. If not, you are an absolute cretin.

I assume you feel that way about all sportstars. I assume you didnt have to work hard to master the industry you're in. My guess if that you haven't mastered anything, not even reality. Sean
Reckon Rondon would’ve cost way more than the reported 16.5m in the end with an added sign on fer and massive wages. Even if he is a cracking player there is a reason no other PL club signed him. Why don't you post under your other account any more?
Guest Howaythetoon
Despite their huge wages and the fact a great deal of professional footballers get paid way more than they are worth in terms of their ability/true worth to a club-the game, they are arguably one area of a work-force the most of any who put their everything into their career and therefore, for me if not deserving of their salary, I can’t begrudge them what they do get and no-one else should really. My own son is 5 and the level of dedication he puts in just for fun is astounding, several kids I know tied up with academies 99% of them won’t even make it, they live, breath, sleep, eat and everything else football and again their dedication is amazing, frightening really. Good luck to them all I say. I’d rather the money from the game went to the players than the likes of Ashley, Talk Sport nob head hosts, ex player pundits and other blood sucking mercenaries stealing a living from a sport for doing next to fuck all. The only thing I ask of any player good or bad, great or not, whatever their level, is to leave everything out there when they do play because the likes of me would and for nowt even at my Tuesday 5-a-side. Depends on how he disseminates this information, no? In his younger coaching days it was reported that he was quite cold but in his later days people say that he's soften up a little bit. I saw no evidence or indication that a lot of the players disliked his management or coaching style. They probably appreciated it as it's more orientated towards 'less talented' players (he didn't ask the world from them technically).
