Good luck Rafa, I think we all knew what was going on.

One thing his statement may do is unsettle the existing players and put transfer targets off. We need Ashley out asap, no mark manager and unambitious/ stepping stone players here we come. What a time 😔

I'm sure Keys and Co will spin it to make Rafa the villan, you must be mad to renew knowing what's coming this season

“Rafa wanted a ridiculous transfer budget, why should any owner bow to that?”

While spitting venom in the next segment that Manchester United won't spend 300 million for Ole Solskjaer.

Been far too kind to Ashley with that. Expected that to be the case though.

Dunno, it pretty much says 'the owners have no ambition or vision'. He was hardly going to lay into him with emotive language, but that's subtly scathing.

Exactly. It doesn’t leave much to our imagination as a fan base does it? Keegan, Shearer, Hughton and now Rafa. 12 years in and nothing much has changed. Everybody who continues putting their money in is assisting in the demolition of whatever remains of our club under this ownership.

Bit disappointed there's not more shots fired in that, but at the same time if Kevin Keegan fired plenty of shots and nothing came of it then Rafa doing the same probably wouldn't lead to anything changing anyway (other than more closure for those of us who do have hopes of seeing a competitive NUFC one day).

Benitez basically saying in the politest way possible that Ashley hasn't changed and the club have no ambitions higher than finishing 17th in the league.

I'm really glad he left because he deserves much better.

Has a club ever let go of a manager door being to ambitious before? Twats.

Derby County getting rid of Nigel Brian Clough after winning league title. Pretty much a movie based around it (The Damned United). Though that was maybe more about Clough's media persona rubbing people the wrong way in addition to his ambitions for the club.

Would be great if someone did a movie about Mike Ashley's time at NUFC one day, especially if it's a movie about Rafa say if he goes to another mid table club and does well. Plenty of scope to show Ashley to be the malevolent owner that he actually is - he ran a fucking PR campaign against his own manager ffs :lol:. Wheeled out a bunch of cunts like Rio Ferdinand, Souness, Richard Keys, Shola Ameobi, Dennis Wise, etc etc, just to bad mouth the very guy keeping this club's neck above water. As if that wouldn't be a golden opportunity for a montage scene in a movie. Can use the Keegan fallout and subsequent tribunal as a backdrop.

Looking forward to the clubs 'retaliation' when they start putting stories out to Sky and the rest of MA's minions saying how he was unrealistic and wanted too much money for transfers/massive wages and unrealistic expectations to compete with Man City.

Always enjoy reading balanced opinion from other clubs forums.

Here's Rangers take on it;

No they are not like us, they accept an owner who is using their club as a vessel to sell sports goods!

In our times of trouble we rallied together against the spivs, thats why we are an Institution and NUFC are a football club.

Summed up pretty well
