My point is regardless of stats every club in world bar Liverpool would swap their keeper for Ederson

And my point is - I don't think they would. He's not in the same bracket as Allison. Allison is an all-rounder. Great at everything a GK needs to do. Ederson is more of a specialist, less good at traditional goalkeeping duties.

There was an article in the Sunday Times, this weekend, by Peter Schmikel. He reconned that Pope is the best 'traditional' keeper in the Permiership, ie stopper.

He thinks that all this distribution malarky is overrated

I think Pope's a bigger rock than people think and even the players seem to know this.

Dubravka doesn't fill me or likely the players with much confidence.

I just hope he gets up to speed quickly.

I think the AC Milan game has to be where he stands up to be counted or he'll have to be dropped in favour of Karius or even Gillespie for that matter.

I don't usually like to be too hasty but he literally fills me with dread.

We have all seen enough of Dubravka to know that hes an absolutely turgid keeper with very little ability or strengths to his game. is it any co incidence that in 2 games hes started weve let in 7 goals i think not. This trend will continue and id be amazed if he kept 6 clean sheets if he played from now until the end of the season

He’s probably right to be honest. Pope’s distribution issues have cost us goals maybe twice. If you had Andy O’Brien and Steven Taylor in front of him it would be a problem, but we don’t.

Some of Pope's issues with his feet have been high-risk sweeper-keeper moves well outside the box that must be him acting on instructions. Like the one on Salah that got him banned for the Carabao final, the laughable let-off he got against Wolves, or that Brighton first goal this season. Its rare for him to get caught in possession or knock it ten yards straight to the opposition center forward like some keepers do. He can't drop it on a sixpence to Gordon sixty yards away, but we have others who can play that pass.

Ederson a better keeper than Alisson? Not a chance.

His distribution isn’t quite as good but still decent. Plus he is an absolute monster one v one and is an outstanding all round keeper. Arguably the best in the world. Ederson makes plenty of ricks and has one of the worst save percentages in the league this season.

Not true. Ederson is fantastic with his feet but overrated as a shot stopper.

He's an ok keeper that we outgrew. Not many keepers are on Pope's level in this league and any team would struggle without their first choice. He'd be ok to step in once in a while but for half a season he's not up to standard anymore.

Agree totally theres a reason Allison is ahead of him in the Brazil pecking order

Sad seeing Dubravka like this man. He was never elite, had a rick in him but he was perfectly serviceable as a mid-table keeper. Hope he has a blinder tomorrow and sees us through.

I suppose how he does the next few weeks before Jan massively impacts what we do in Jan.

I can't recall ever seeing Gillespie in action, but Karius would not be an upgrade.

Sorry, but 'too hasty' is the trap I think you're falling into here.

Sad for us not for him, wish he stayed with the club he always dreamt of playing for

Bit much like, hardly Judas for having the temerity to go play football elsewhere on loan when Pope was first choice. It didn’t work out for him, we made some money. Whatever, he’s a good lad, just not at this level anymore

Honestly, how bad can Karius be? He's a fair bit younger and it's obvious Dubravka has declined with age. Perhaps could have done better for one of the cup final goals but otherwise there wasn't an issue. He's got plenty of experience too. .

If he's up to it, he should start on Wednesday.

He’s not registered, is he?

If Dubravka carries on like he has the last two games and there is any truth in the story about his shoulder injury. Then Karius should be getting a look in soon.
