"So it’s always been a club that I’ve been somewhat fond of from an early age — for some reason I’ve always had an antipathy towards Newcastle. I mean that wasn’t a determining factor in this, but it does mean I’ve always had a slight soft spot for Sunderland because I’ve always found Newcastle to be a rather arrogant club."

From their new PR fella Methven.....and of course they're lapping it up.

Glorious.

Makes that quote and then realises that to get any kind of culture or nightlife he has to do it in the city he's just slagged off.  Should be interesting.

Aye!

Saying he hates Newcastle for no reason will definitely turn out well for him.

Their 'first thought' in the morning is Newcastle, their second thought is Newcastle United, their third thought is Newcastle, their fourth thought (if they have that many) is Newcastle United, and so on throughout the day. Their last thought at night is (of course) Newcastle and/or Newcastle United.

He is obviously one (or trying to be) of THEM.

All my life I have known that THEY think more often about us than even we do!

Most of us rarely (to never) think about them.

Sad, very sad, for them. Born / live / die (in Sunderland, I think it's called) and only ever think about Newcastle !!!

"For some reason, which is definitely nothing to do with pandering to you gullible fucks, I've always had a love for blue pop, cheysey chips and casual racism. Similarly *checks crib notes* I've always had a deep hatred for sugar puffs, airports and the North Sea. Free Adam Johnson."

Fuck's sake man

Liverpool blowing a 5 point lead with 3 games left was far worse

Thanks! Been steeling myself for the worst case scenario today, and the reminder of that Gerrard moment might get me through.

Celebrating being bought off by pizza and Staropramen by the guys who have just peddled a bunch of blameless club employees without a second thought...

Methvan posts under the username lundinsponytail on there. He seems to be pretty universally considered to be a bit of a bellend by his fellow Oxford supporters.

Oxford are my next favourite team, so total respect from me.

Of course.

I see he is claiming he has always had a soft spot for Sunderland as he has always found Newcastle an arrogant club, pretty certain when we played Newcastle in the cup 15 months ago he kept that one quiet, he does talk some shite.

Donald has always come across well, but judging by on here Methven is one the thinnest skinned people on the planet, a paper cut is a potentially fatal injury to the man. He will be fine while it all goes well which it should initially given the size of the parachute payment, be interesting to see what happens if the s**t hits the fan in the championship, can see him loving a load of northerners questioning his intelligence, I am guessing the dictionary will be coming out to find long words to insult people.

Please let him sign up to RTG.  He'll be getting called a mag by October. Seems most on that Oxford forum have seen through his bullshit but the mackems will be having none of it.

That's so transparent it's almost like a parody. You'd think they'd be seeing straight through that but nope, blinded by someone telling them everything they want to hear.

Also, might as well rename the club "We hate Newcastle United FC"

So all three teams that got relegated from the Championship last season have gotten promoted this, including Rotherham who ended last season on 23 points. They're going straight back up like.

Not so sure about this like, the turnover of players will be huge this summer and with a rookie manager it will be very interesting to see where they are come Christmas, on another note it looks like a fair few of their fans are taking the club up on the 3 year season ticket deal.

Still chuckle at this thread.

From laughing at us for thinking we're singing him, to being called deluded...

Not one of the 18 comments I read even, for a moment, questioned how a Premier League club's star player, whom they have recently turned down a huge bid for from a club in Europe in West Ham, could viably be a realistic and likely signing for them. Delusion and ignorance beyond belief!

...to deciding he's shit anyway.

Does anyone actually think he's any good like?

Other than scoring a few long range goals?

The Wijnaldum thread is great as well. From thinking they're signing him and he's an amazing player to realising he's signing for Newcastle and is now shit.

By page 51 they're all fuming with the papers saying they're all "Mag propaganda machines"

Turns out a good friend of mine has past experience with the ‘Don’ when it comes to business and says he’s a clever man who will turn them around. I likened him to a chancer and he said he’s anything but and will run the business side spot on, engage with fans and get something from every core of that club. Fair enough I said, but they will need huge investment to get back to the PL and he doesn’t have that kind of money. My mate said he doesn’t, but he’s not vain or selfish enough to not seek others’ money and if he can’t do that he will try and get them back up sensibly with what they have and if not, well, that’s the club they will have to be unless some daft billionaire buys them out. Will the mackems be happy being a mid-table Championship club? I don’t think they will even if they are ran well, club engages with fans and the ‘Don’ is doing a good job running things as a business. My mate who is a top businessman himself thinks they are in great hands and will succeed eventually. Same bloke says just need Ashley to sell up now as his club Gateshead seems to have been sold to some consortium.

They'll only be happy with being a mid-table championship club as long we are a lower table championship club or below. Their happiness is based on our unhappiness.
