Think he purposely did that so he would get sacked from his job. no one would have went in for him in the summer anyways.

so instead of seeing out his contract and getting paid he's pushed himself to get fired where he's presumably been let go FOC...i know it's the sunderland thread but still

12 years ago to the day since we beat them 4-1 and Albert Luque wrapped it up.

And Shearer's final match, what a way to go out!

I can't recall much fuss being made by us about the fact that it was the fifth consecutive win, given the 'in a row' thing that the mackems seem so obsessed with.

Was trying to remember who scored the other goal (knew Shearer, N'Zogbia and Luque), and of course it was Michael Chopra... he came on a sub and scored with his first touch about 10 seconds later. In fact, I think his run from the touchline was straight into the box and onto the end of a ball to score.

Aye there's certainly been a lot of fanfare from their lot to an extra "1 in a row". I honestly can't ever remember anyone from our side even mentioning 5 in a row.

Still if it gives them comfort on a cold Tuesday night down at Fleetwood it's hard to begrudge them it.

I was there in the home end with a number of Sunderland fan colleagues from work. A lovely match day experience it was :smitten:

I was in the away end. Felt suicidal in the concourse at half time (They hadn't won a home game all season iirc) then we smashed 4 past them all right in front of us in the 2nd half.

The groundsman chucking a wobbler and having to be restrainied before being escorted away the icing on the cake!

Didn’t realise N’Zogbia has been without a club for 2 years after being released by Villa in 2016.

Got little to do with N'zogbia or Sunderland but I didn't realise until yesterday that Olivier Bernard is only 38 and last kicked a professional football when he was 26.

There was no 5 on a row mentioned despite it being a record then.

That's the difference.

They battered us from what I remember pretty much up until Chopra's goal.

Aye they did. We were lucky to go in only 1-0 down at half time. I think they finished that season with 15 points
