pinkeye
It must be incredibly annoying to think that you, as a random mackem, has paid out full price for your seat and yet a further 8 - 10k people who are there may have paid as little as nothing for theirs.... Tbh I think it's gone past that stage now. I think the few full paying mackems who still go along are just happy to see a few other people in the ground. 1964
Just let that sink in, the average cost to watch Sunderland was £11.41 per match. So if you turned up at the turnstile and offered £11.50 to get in you would be overpaying. That is pretty shocking

That is pretty shocking To put that into perspective it costs £13 to watch Blyth Spartans and £15 to watch Gateshead. They're royally screwed without the PL money to support them as they relied on it more than any other club.
pinkeye
There is a thread on their site that bemoans the fact that they were only 6 points away from being safe.... not one of them has picked up on the fact that they were THAT SHIT all season but, still only failed to stay up by 6 points. Last season the standard at the bottom of the Championship was considerably higher, Rotherham aside maybe, and if a team had been as bad as them in that league they would have been relegated by Christmas. Last season the standard at the bottom of the Championship was considerably higher, Rotherham aside maybe, and if a team had been as bad as them in that league they would have been relegated by Christmas. To be fair, with their win percentage of around 15%, it would only have taken them an extra 13 or so games to get two more wins, or if we're going on points per game just the 7.5 more games to get another six points. Guest
Or as someone on here pointed out, if we'd fucked up promotion last year, there's 6 points off us, they stay up. The rely on us for survival in more ways than one.
Thomson Mouse
Had to laugh at the reality starting to set in from the Jarrow Roofing thread: Sunderland residents/fans willing these other local clubs on to better things, likes of Shields and that. Fuck them man. Chance we could be playing the c*nts some day. Each time one of these rag tag lot gain a promotion and we get relegated we lose a handful of fans. Fuck them. Now that it's cheaper to watch the mackems than South Shields a few Shields fans might be tempted to desert to Sunderland

Figures 1-0 Football
This is possibly my favourite ever RTG post: Mate, it's not even about the new owners. The best thing to come out of all of this is that WE'RE DEBT FUCKING FREE BABY!!!!!! It's a dream come true for us. I don't care if the new owner is Gary Glitter. We can invest every single penny earned back into the team now. To compare, the mags are 130m in debt. We can take a 200m loan if we want and spunk it on Rodwells again. Hopefully we won't, but we have options. It's a fresh start for us. Ellis deserves huge credit and a big thanks for wiping the slate clean. He won't get it, but he deserves it. The new owners have not only bought the bargain of the fucking century (a debt-free "big club"), but they also have a huge invesment opportunity in which they could make billions if they put the effort in. They don't even need money. Donald did admirably at Eastleigh and seems a sound bloke. I can't see why he'd suddenly turn into a kernt. DEBT FREE! Matt
If it's right that they'll be getting capital from a Spanish PE house, they'll be sorely disappointed when every penny is injected as more shareholder loans
Exiled in Texas
And yet no one asks WHY Short was so desperate to dump SAFC that he was willing to pay of the bank debt and write of his own debt. Nope, they still think he did it as an honorable act, and not because it was the only way to make the club appealing to a buyer. Paying off the SBC loan will have given SAFC relief from the £600k month interest payment but they were still allegedly making £2M month loss so that’s still a huge negative hole in the the revenue stream that needs to be patched monthly

It's as if they never learn from the past shite they've spouted that makes them look silly. Anyway, according to mackems, we should all love Ashley because he cleared all our debt (wrong). It seems theyve changed their minds on that one too.

Chris_R
Yeah, they're going to make billions. Because it's that easy. Short could have just paid off the debt and kept the club instead of paying off the debt and giving the club away, that way he could have made the billions himself. Any single one of them want to ask themselves why he chose not to do that?
