"So we can count on someone with that pace getting to the byline and crossing a lot, right?"

"Actually sir he completely lacks a right foot."

"Come again?"

"Yeah if he tries to shoot or pass with it it's going to be an opposition goal kick 80% of the time."

"Oh, my god!"

Getting more stick than Perez did when he left.

I find both cases bizarrely similar. Two players who gave their all for the club, torn apart on 'social' media.

Perez was my son;s first toon hero. when he started playing footie he would pull his socks over his knees like Ayoze used to.

he's now 16 and has just bought himself an AYOZE 26 Spain top.

At a time when some of the "popular" players included Darlow, Clark, Hayden, Dummett, Ritchie, Lascelles, Gayle...

Miggy is class man. Deserves to be remembered as a Jonas, decent player with flaws who made up for it by never giving anything less than his all. Love the guy. Still think he'd be great as a backup against tired legs, but if FFP/PSR isn't going away then now is the time to cash in unfortunately

Folk who give their absolute all despite not being world beaters always deserve respect. Miggy has done more than enough not to get shit off absolute melts on social media.

Anything over £10m we'll have done well and should snap their hands off for FFP.

Under that and it's Murphy who I'd look to move on, surely someone like Leicester or a bottom 6 team would think £15m plus would be good value.

We need to make space for an RW this summer.

Almiron has to go but i would keep Murphy, you need him as cover for multiple positions and realistically we won't sign two right wingers.

For fans who held up a banner declaring We don't demand a team that wins, we demand a club that tries we complain a lot about a player who pretty much embodies that idea.

Miggy worked his arse off for his time here, if he'd had two working feet he wouldn't have been playing for us in the first place.  Good luck to the guy.

Murphy must be happy to be a squad player and is cheap wages-wise also. No point selling him I would say.

Aye the idea that we need to make more space for a RW when we already have a massive, gaping hole at that position seems odd

Move on Almiron and Wilson, sign a first choice RW and a young striker who is also comfortable playing wide (ideally on the right side) and we'll be looking good.

Keep Murphy as a reserve and shithousing specialist to close out games we're leading. Also seems Eddie trusts him to play RB if needed, which will be particularly handy if Trippier moves on.

I think either/or. Whoever fetches the most.

I'd have whoever's left between them as 3rd choice RW anyway, with Gordon as second choice, switching over from the left when the new player isn't available/needs rested and Barnes starting on the left to cover Gordon when he's RW.

Happy to keep Murphy as backup.  He is realtively low wages and despite not being an outstanding player, he works hard and has a great attitude.  That said, if a reasonable offer came in, I would let him go.  However, I'm sure Howe does not want too many first teamers to go in one window, so assuming Almiron goes, which makes more sense, I think he will stay.

David Kelly was a very limited footballer and it was probably fairplay to move him on when Beardsley/Cole were replacing he and Peacock - but he worked his backside off for the club and gave us plenty of moments and goals. Miggy deserves similar respect really not sniped at like he was Owen.

I do agree with you but David Kelly did score arguably the most important goal in our history.

Not aimed at you - or Miggy, who I like personally and no one should be callous to - but I think this phrase gets misused a lot.

It was said at a time the club itself - i.e. the owner - had no intention of doing anything to win beyond existing and being profitable for him personally.

But doing things to win will mean us moving on nice guys and try hards who don't cut the mustard. Jogging up and down a lot just to keep us in 16th was the problem, even if a lot of effort was getting spent in that process.

I get why people are defensive of Miggy - he gave his all at a time when a lot at the club couldnt be arsed.  The difference is that these days we are building a team of players who offer both the application and the talent - sadly Miggy falls slightly short in the latter.

Would echo that. Demanding a team that tries is still true, but obviously there's a difference in expectations between a pub team and one that's striving for CL football.

Expectations have risen with the new direction created by the ownership, and there's nothing wrong with that. The main difference is now we are trying to win trophies whereas previously we were trying to finish 17th.

I think it’s a nice thing to go back and refer to once in a while to keep us grounded.

But we have a club who tries now, so should we just sit back and say “job done guys, that’ll do”

Of course not, it’s all about moving forward.. and sometimes we need to leave things behind so we can do it.

2 years ago, Miggy played out of his skin.. last season he reverted back to something similar to before albeit with some amazing moments (PSG, away to Man Utd etc)

He’ll always be liked and appreciated here for his efforts for the cause but we are bit by bit improving in every area and should be stay he’s just going to become a bit part player and that shouldn’t be the case for him, he’s only 30.. he’s got loads to give another club should he choose to move.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an MLS club comes in for him as it doesn’t seem like Saudi is where he really wants to be, or a mid table La Liga club.

I doubt we'd get much money for him from an MLS club mind. That might be grand for him, but would be pretty shit for us.

how many years here? yet never learned English.
gave it his all, wanted to be in touch with the fans so much he can't even speak to them.

pull the other one... the lad put in some solid performances sure, but he comes across as someone who is just here for the money not the culture.

I agree with most of what you say. It's just this bit - I think we should be revisiting the phrase occasionally when it comes to assessing our board rather than the team.

This week is a perfect example, actually. Is it a bugger that we've had major PSR troubles and had to chuck away some promising players? Definitely. Is it massively better than never having PSR issues because the club didn't give a shit? A thousand times yes.

That's what I've been told as well. Just affects that it's really bad so he can keep away from the media shit.

If we could get good money I'd sooner keep Miggy as the 4th winger in the group. You'd imagine the new signing would be left-footed so just gives a bit balance having two right-footers (one who can also play either wing if you want crosses from the byline) and two lefties where you can do similar.

Then you'd have first choice Gordon & new RW, second choice Barnes & new RW, third choice Barnes & Gordon, then options with Almiron when there's two of them out.
