Deuce
Disagreed last night with whoever mentioned it but one legged ties are clearly the way to go for more underdogs winning Knockout stages should always be single-match.
Jaqen
Disagreed last night with whoever mentioned it but one legged ties are clearly the way to go for more underdogs winning Knockout stages should always be single-match. Think it only works as there's no spectators at the moment. Neutral venues would be a right pisser for fans to have to travel to each round. Having it at one teams ground would give them way too much of advatange.
The College Dropout
This loss is not so much down to Pep’s tinkering. But moreso Terrible squad building over the last 2 years. He’s been playing both Rodri and Gundogan in midfield because each is too slow, immobile to hold the midfield together by themselves the way Fernandinho could a few years ago. If he plays Rodri alone with Foden and KDB they get overran in midfield. Never replaced Kompany. That back line lacks pace, power and leadership. Fernandinho at least gives you the latter. Mahrez is an excellent player. But they’ve missed Sane. That ability to play super vertically is gone. Too many of their players want the ball into feet. KaKa
He hardly ever really plays Rodri and Gundogan together. He usually plays one of them sitting (Or Fernandinho) with DeBruyne and David Silva in central midfield alongside. Only did it yesterday because he was seemingly nervous. Unbelievable that he started the game with Both Silvas, Foden and Mahrez on the bench. Pep pretty much bottled it. Went too defensive with Fernandinho, Rodri and Gundogan starting. Guest
Or maybe they see a club who have had an ‘off-season’ and see it as a blip for a team whose achieved brilliant things the two years before?
Pilko
There's an Instagram sponsored ad for Clarks Shoes with Raheem Sterling assuming he was wearing a pair of Wallabies when he skied that chance in the second half?

I know it would never be 50/50 with all of the corporate but it would make for some great atmospheres imo.

Could they possibly expand the groups to make up for lost matches if they go to one off matches? eg top 5 in England qualify for CL - or is that too much? I would like to see the group stages be more competitive

I would like to see the group stages be more competitive I'd be a bit reluctant to expand the number of entrants to the competition because as we've seen with the Euros in can lead to significant disparity. Putting it in a 70,000+ stadium every year and sharing the gate receipts equally between the two sides might go a way to getting clubs on board, too. joeyt
Hell of a lot of money for fans to fork out though, plus fans having to take a substantial amount of time off work

joeyt
I think Daniel Storey is class but I really disagree with him here and I think it's a bit poor of him (even though he's changed his opinion slightly this morning)
geordie john
Any other club would be looking at the shambolic season that city have had by their standards, and thinking someone has to pay for this shit and that would be the manager. After the glorious football City have provided us with over the last few years, one 'average for them but stunning for anyone else' season and you think the manager should go? Replaced with? Bruce, perhaps? Your comment is a joke.....

It must be close to a billion he has spent at Bayern Munich and Manchester City with very little success in Europe.

astraguy
I hate how he never gets called out for his transfer record Pep has done superb at city no doubt but he didn't buy the core of city or barca/ munich he only goes so far to clubs already succesful and bags of cash
