Mike Ashley (former owner) (still alive)

Recommended Posts

I never get that at all. Surely the people you should listen to are fans who experienced the guy for 15 years?

Fair enough when he was unknown, I thought he sounded like a good owner too.

It's like still giving Steve Bruce management jobs.

Vote yes. Let them have him. Just like WBA happily took Brucey. Let them learn the lesson.

In addition to the above - didnt him and the players argue for ages about bonus payments?

Absolutely laughable post

Actively sold all the perceived "troublemakers" in that regard aswell if I recall.

Honestly you could rip apart that guys beliefs but then that is all social media is now, enrage people for the engagement.

It's good to know the fire still burns and how quickly I get angry whenever I hear someone try to defend the Ashley era though. I've just learnt to diffuse and not rise to it like I used to [emoji38]

My friends & family know not to mention Pardew, Bruce or Ashley (sports direct) to me unless they want to sit through a small rant.

Someone asked me recently why I refuse to shop at any Frasers owned stores

It was an innocent question, but even though I'd only got a mere 40 minutes into my rant I could sense that they definitely regretted asking it

And what about the HMRC investigation on Charnley?

NUFC paid SWFC millions of billions in compensation to take that useless fat sack of shite Bruce off their hands and yet they'd still fancy having Ashley as owner

Put them in the dictionary under the definition of Daft Cunts

There is no telling Billy, loads of reasoned arguments against it from our fan base and gets batted away as deluded Geordies and that we were championship/bottom end PL club at the time.

Fuck em, I used to like Sheff Wed somewhat, be careful what you wish for.

Nice to see some of the Newcastle myths are still going strong.

Not reading that, however I assume they’re still apoplectic that we complained about their fucking death trap of a stadium.

EDIT: Against my better judgement I clicked. I suppose selling anything that isn’t nailed down/essential for the purpose of being a football club and then ensuring the club operates within whatever meagre means remain is a sustainable way of running a business.

EDIT TO THE EDIT: “He’d invest in the stadium, training ground and we’d definitely have no issues with HMRC.” Those cunts are tapped. Is there another Mike Ashley?

They aren’t but that goes a good way to explaining why so many of them seem to hate us

For anyone who doesn't want to click on their forum, here's the gist:

They think Mike Ashley is a bad owner, but probably more competent than the chancer they have at the moment.

Newcastle fans were the main problem during MA's reign cause we wanted our club to achieve it's maximum potential and not fade into obscurity and become another middling championship team who used be famous but now have no realistic chance of ever being a 'somebody' again...........Sheffield Wednesday for example!

It literally took until the second post for the usual BS to rear it's head...

You've got to look at the expectations of the fans, Newcastle fans say he failed them but their expectations are ridiculous. They expect to be challenging for he premier league every year and playing in the champions league.

I for one am very disappointed all we're doing now is competing to be in the top 4.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be just as thrilled once Hillsborough is renamed the Sports Direct Stadium and it gets plastered in SD advertising. Kinda hope he goes there now, will be fun to watch from afar.

A few posters on there mentioning something about a tax bill being paid on time.

Someone ought to tell them about that never-ending HMRC investigation into Newcastle United.

I have sympathy with any fanbase whose club is being destroyed by a parasite owner. For that reason I can completely understand why they'd pine for the first link to someone who'll hypothetically release them from that misery. It makes sense to me that someone in that position would welcome Mike Ashley.

As for their sneering comments about our expectations rendering our views inadmissible... the irony is that there's probably some truth to it. The Championship is worlds away from the Premier League and their expectations - I assume - are different to ours. If they're happy to exist just for existing's sake, I'm sure even Ashley's methods could just about navigate the challenge of consolidating them as a middling second tier club.

If they have ambitions of being one of the best in the league and/or becoming a Premier League club, forget it.

NB. Obviously the detail of our supposed expectations (i.e. wanting to win the league every year) is bullshit.
