Apparently the club put up a statement on its twitter account early but its been taken down. It read:

A Club statement for the fans regarding the purchase of Newcastle United will be issued later this evening.

Few people saying they saw it, with screenshots. In all honesty any club statement right now would be bad for any takeover. If there was one, it will be them stating its off.

Takes one second for someone to take a screenshot of a page so doubt it. If it was true then it would be a takeover going ahead as they wouldn’t put one out at this stage saying it wasn’t happening especially as there are SUPPOSEDLY a number of groups still competing.

Why would it be takeover going ahead if the club do announce something?

All the noises coming out would suggest Ashley is getting ready for the "time wasters" statement...again.

Yup. It won't be good news.

FWIW the tweet was (apparently) up for a matter of seconds and removed again, enough time for a handful to see it and someone to screenshot it.

Looks fake to me. Just reading a few recent tweets from the club and they always use the Newcastle hashtag at the end of each tweet which the tweet above is missing.

Because why would they put a statement out saying the takeover is off when the club continues to be on sale with still 6 weeks before the season starts and allegedly a number of groups involved. It would also go against all the Bishop theories about stalling and bullshit during the transfer window.

I know I don't, I don't even think the screenshot is real as i said, but any statement I very much doubt would be about the takeover being off due to the reasons I stated and the fact there was no official statement regarding Staveley or Kenyon either.

Be something along the lines of..

"We appreciate the fans are frustrated about the departure of Rafa Benitez, as is the club, we want to assure supporters that we are working diligently on appointing a new manager who we feel can build on the solid foundations Rafa laid in place.

P.s..plz don't boycott or owt"

thinking back it seemed like to much of a coincidence sunderland having 1 of the most heartbreaking worst days in there history, meanwhile later the same day  newcastle fans are  revelling in there misery and are by some miracle going to be the next man city, the powers that be always have a plan..status quo is now restored

Fake tweet or not, they will be making a statement of some sort soon. And it will be along the lines of "the club can confim it is in talks with a number of interested parties for a possible sale, however since a resolution is still some way off we ask the supporters to get behind the search for a new manager so that we can have the best possible start to the new season".

They can get fucked. Either sell to BZG within the next four weeks or they can watch the club burn down to the ground.

If that was a real deleted Tweet then multiple people would have screenshot it and it’d have spread like wildfire within minutes.

So what Twitter wants us to believe is the club tweeted something AND deleted it AND just a couple people saw it AND twitter notifications didn’t go out.  I’m in.

I'm just grateful somebody had the foresite to screenshot it before it was taken down, seconds later. How fortuitous.
