It's the club's bullshit, not his tbf.

He's reporting it though whilst maintaining the club are firmly with a 'no comment' on anything they have asked

About the sale, not about SD signs.

Why don't people just understand that there are things that the media can say, and things that they cannot.

This is so obviously something that they know but cannot say right now and have to follow the public line on "cleaning"

There’s nothing obvious they know. Agree with reporting on the clubs ‘cleaning line’, he’s shot himself in the foot with the shit sarcasm though. Exactly what is pissing people off

I generally don't care to go after reporters who are just reporting what they here, but there seems to be no doubt from them over the club's side of thngs. The club clearly lied yesterday to Douglas about the signs coming down for cleaning, and the club had definitely lied to these journos before. Yet, for some reason, all their skepticism is towards the new group and not the club that has lied to them for years.

agree - not sure why these journalists/media guys get into personal snarky responses.  It's a no-win situation for them

Nah, it's irresponsible IMO.

Something like that shouldn't be reported as a fact and used to play down speculation if it's just something he's been told by "the club". Who fucking love telling lies.

Nah, not having this like.

Their business is to seek out news & publish it.

This isn't part of the official fucking secrets act man, or some high profile trial with restrictions tied all over it. So what if some rich businessman is selling a business to some rich Arabs? Its not even that its likely to be some sort of surreptitious, Illicit dodgy deal we`re talking about here. And lets not forget, they are the local journalists who should have the benefit of local knowledge ffs!

As I see it, they're either not up to it enough to scoop the facts or they've not the bottle to go public with what they know.

Old advertising boards being replaced by more up to date LED signage. Lots of seats being replaced and the stadium getting a good clean up. Costing Ashley a few quid but well overdue.

Costing Ashley nothing

It's not being done for free.

Caulkin is the only journalist who can come out of this with his head held high.

He`s the best around in my opinion, I love his writing & he seems a really decent guy but if he`s holding back, I would really like to know why.

Implication being that the new owners are footing the cost.

only question is why? what would be the point of them doing it in such a hurry? sure there's some easy PR but they could do that over the summer its not as if the new season is next week or next month

They'll want to do photo ops in the ground with out all that SD tat in the background.

Maybe we chose to spend a few thousand pounds of our almost £200m revenue on making the place look slightly less of a tip?  For most clubs it is just a petty cost, you can tell we're conditioned to this joy-killing skinflint the way people carry on about costs.

Would have thought that was obvious from Ashley's history where fans complained about the public toilets being manky for ages.

If they are changing them to electronic boards it would be something that has been planned and budgeted well in advance. Why would they put a stop to it just because someone is potentially buying the club?
