Turns out he is the one that should have been rested.

He was knackered from the 20th minute yet somehow stayed on for so long?

Said it in the pre-match thread, that if we are going to rest players, he should have been considered first considering he's played every game and has cost us late goals in both previous games. I think rotation is the right way to go, just don't always understand how we are doing it.

If Paper Joe had been available he’d perhaps have started. Can’t believe how much Big Joe’s cost us this week, it’s so unlike him.

In keeping with his season - his level and consistency just haven’t been there

3 games in a row he made costly mistakes. Ball watching at stoppage time vs Palace, cheaply gave the ball away vs Liverpool (though the idea was good), and today fell asleep when defending set piece.

Yeah have to say, I've noticed too when you see replays back of goals it's often Big Joe is at fault recently.

Also don't like him in midfield. He's too awkward and gets dispossessed on the ball quite often when they swarm around him. He's alot more useful as a wide player when we need that extra defensive cover for Hall.

Agreed also that he looked knackered and is clearly still struggling with that shoulder problem from the palace game.

By not tracking his man? Bit of a reach.

No, I just mean his lack of physicality in duels etc., which is usually his whole game.

Won 4/12 duels today and 6/18 (0/10 ground duels) against Palace. Those are seriously bad numbers for any player let alone him.

I feel like I’m constantly having a go at him, but he’s been shite by his standards for ages. Probably since his injury last year.

Eddie Howe has confirmed that Joelinton, who is suspended anyway for tomorrow, is ‘battered and bruised’ with stitches around his ear and a cut mouth after the clash with Nathan Collins on Wednesday. But apart from that it is the same squad with no new injuries: “There’s some tired bodies but refreshingly energetic because results have been good. Will make assessments on how everyone looks today.”

God help Collins when they next meet!

He went steaming into the next challenge after he re-entered the field of play. I was holding my breath as I thought he'd absolutely wallop someone and get carded but thankfully not!

Loved the big man's performance today.

Great driving run through midfield before playing it to Gordon for the first, and an absolute top drawer strike for his goal.

Think alongside both Tonali and Bruno in midfield he may reach another level. He's letting those two do most of the build up in deeper areas and isn't at as much risk of losing the ball there anymore.

Can now just focus on getting closer to Isak and crashing into the box where his aerial threat and physical presence will cause problems.

Excited to see how the current midfield trio continues to develop.

An absolute must in that first 11. Think there's more performances like today to come from him going forward.

Maybe we take him for granted a bit at times? My boss is a Gooner and always raves about him when he watches him. Two lads in our football Whatsapp group called him MOTM before he scored. Plenty of neutrals seem to fear him now.

Such a hybrid and unique player and there is nobody really like him in the game. It can seem like he’s a bit positionless or the wrong sort of game for him. But he’s just a monster. He’s everywhere.

Having Sandro, Hall and Gordon next to him has allowed him to look his best too.

And vice versa. He’s back to playing 3 positions at once.

Certainly noticed him finding more space (understandable today) and offering more in an attacking sense of late.
