Joelinton: will not play against Everton (Howe)

Recommended Posts

Penalty miss aside, he played pretty well when he came on. Looked more confident and assertive with his play.

It was an ok penalty, save not a miss

The penalty was piss weak!

My piss is strong. Poor though, hasn't got 2 pennies to rub together.

Fairly positive in the sense that this time he was able to trap the football? That's progress alright.

In all seriousness if that's fairly positive it's no wonder MA is able to get away with the shit he's doing.

So I presume that having watched his performance, your assessment was that all he did was trap the ball, and that said trapping of the ball is what lead me to say his performance was positive? Or are you adding a layer of agenda to my post that isn't there?

Nah, I was joking about the trapping of the ball comment, hence the next line starting with "In all seriousness..."

If you think that performance against a League 2 side can be classed as 'fairly positive' then Mike Ashley has won.

This is why I only chuck throwaway comments onto this forum.

His performance was fairly positive (hardly an outlandish, OTT observation), yet for thinking that, "Mike Ashley has won". Does every post on this forum have to be underpinned by the ultimate agenda of removing Ashley (which I'm obviously fully in support of, btw).

I watch other teams as well as Newcastle and therefore am well aware of what resembles a positive performance.

Just to be clear, I have no problem whatsoever if people disagree with me, but I do have a problem with someone inferring that I'm accepting of the situation that Ashley has put us in, purely for observing the performance of a player.

And that was the polar opposite of a positive performance.

Not sure how someone saying Joelinton looked "Assertive and Confident" is such a controversial statement like, as he did when he came on, and we looked better when he was on the pitch then when he was off it.

I know he's been utter s**** in the main since he's been here, and ultimately I don't think he's a very good player, but objectivley he played well last night. Not sure why saying that triggers some people.

Because he didn't look like that at all. He still looks sheepish and average at best against League 2 opposition.

If that performance was against another PL side it would be a different story, but the level of opposition dictates the level of performance required to be classed as having "played well", in my opinion.

Fairly positive in that he was better than most others on the pitch at trapping the ball and transitioning forward. If you watched the game, and most others before it, you'll have seen that it has been a real problem for many of our players, hence the remarkably shit football. I don't know why that's so hard to understand for some people.

Can feel the cult fan base growing for THE Joe Linton. Can’t wait til a few more weeks, a couple of goals and Kaka absolutely slaying folk in this thread with I told you so’s.

Howay you beautiful Brazilian bastard, you stick it to all the gammons in here.

Ooooh, two goals against Morecombe.

I don’t dislike him tbh and don’t think he’s a bad player. He’s 100% not a number 9 or a £40m player though. Worth half that at best but if we’d signed him for £15-£20m you’d be more prepared to give him a bit of time especially in his second season. We ruined the bloke paying that much for him and putting the expectation on him like we did last summer.

Amazing how triggered people get when someone says he played well

You are the ones that are obsessed with him and then claim others are. This has to be some sort of dementia

I have said the same about Joelinton as I have said for Longstaff. I cannot and will not write them off as rubbish, as the majority now have, because the manager is completely useless.

This season no one can name a single player in the whole team that is performing well. Our new 'real' striker Callum Wilson doesn't even get chances to score and never touches the ball.

But you know, keep writing off the players and supporting the goofball in charge by blaming the players instead. So dumb.

He looked like he wanted the end of days as he was trudging up to take that penalty last night. Getting bogged down in body language isn't often a good way of analysing a player's psyche, but fucking hell. Looked like he'd rather be anywhere else on the planet then timidly kicked into the goalie's hands at a perfect height.

The lad hates scoring goals.

Um ... that would be the whole team genius

Funny how you determine that from a penalty miss, but disregard the two he scored previously. What is wrong with you people?

That must be a small small minority. I don't think there's many people that are defending Bruce on account of Joelinton being a mediocre player.

Every player is mediocre under Bruce. Name one that isn't.

Absolutely nothing in the team is working. This fantasy that Joelinton is some outlier is dumb.

It's even more bizarre because when he does do anything well people complain about him more.

I get that he's not looking like a striker, or a £40m player. But he still looks like one of our better footballers, and our game improves when he's playing as a result. I think there's much bigger problems other than the strikers at the moment, I'd be moaning about other sections of the team before Joelinton so far this season.

If it helps Kaka, I certainly dont think Joelinton is the first player who should be criticised. Carroll,  Richie and Shelvey are particularly holding us back at the moment.
