RS
Starting to hope he gets injured. He’s that bad.
TRon
Still think Glen Murray would have been the ideal Bruce striker. We'd still get relegated, but at least he'd score 4 or 5 goals a season.

AyeDubbleYoo
We’d be miles better off with someone like Murray. £40m for Joe, under a regime that spends very little, is extremely suspicious. There’s no way we could expect to make a profit.
Andy
What a load of shite that first tweet is man Sums up his tactics in a nutshell - give it to those two and hope something happens, if it doesn't they need to improve - nothing to do with the tactical set up of the team. Almiron and ASM have got no chance of regularly getting goals and assists when they're breaking from their own box and the rest of the team is lagging 30 yards behind them if and when they reach a dangerous position. Our transitional play is the worst I've ever seen from a Newcastle team - up there with the worst I've ever seen at this level full stop. For a team with some decently pacey players on the flanks and at wing-back it's a spectacular achievement how undynamic we are as a unit.
Yorkie
Thought he held onto it quite well on a couple of occasions where he was being hassled by a couple of players. He's clearly got a bit of strength and pace which has contributed to him doing presumably okay in the Bundesliga. But it's laughable how far off the pace he is, in terms of everything else you need in order to be an effective striker. His positioning is terrible, he does absolutely nothing to help his teammates and he has no instinct at all.
joeyt
Joelinton struggles to get in the box because he's usually isolated on the halfway line with no one anywhere near him
David Edgar
Hanging ASM and Almiron out to dry. Oof. Poor guys. Neither are prolific, but our dinosaur football doesn't help.
toontownman
Also need someone from central mid to attack the box through the middle. Bentaleb and longstaff want to sit deep constantly or drop back once they reach the box. Even if Joelinton goes central he will be marked out of the game. Thought he played well today. He does need to stick central. I wouldnt mind him wandering wide if anyone was going central in his place.
Guest
Joelinton struggles to get in the box because he's usually isolated on the halfway line with no one anywhere near him It’s probably not his natural instinct either given his manager even admits he’s not an out & out striker. Amir_9
I also thought he played alright today. Honestly, I am starting to feel for this guy. He's no way a 40m player but I have no doubt he would be much better if the team actually played to his strengths and had an actual well trained attacking plan. Guest neesy111
Honestly a prime Shearer would only be on 5-6 goals in this side.
AyeDubbleYoo
The only players who stand a chance of threatening the goal are the ones like ASM, who can take the ball from 40 yards and make something happen themselves. Also Joelinton was totally unsuitable to how we were planning to play, but we knew that already.

Seriously, his hold up play is shocking, he can't head a ball, he does not know how to run the channels and his movement in the box is non existent. Never in a million years is this bloke a striker! I don't think hes a striker either. However, he shows flashes of decent play on the wings now and again. Having said that, I do feel for him because there is usually fuck all for him to pass to most of the time he has the ball with him in the final third and/or when its hoofed up to him. He's shit, but I feel he could look somewhat decent if we had something of a well drilled attacking plan. Still, not a 40m player and most certainly not a striker/player you rely on for regular goals at this level - which just makes the transfer all the more baffling. Well at least we both agree he is shit. I certainly haven't seen these flashes of decent play however. He doesn't even have any pace. I haven't got a clue why he is here, what purpose he is or even how he ended up being a professional and getting paid for it. I do agree we play with no game plan etc
KaKa
At this point I just hope the guy can stay healthy and get a move in the summer to get his career back on track. Nobody deserves this mess.
Disco
Actually quite funny how shit he has been. Steve being so keen to prove he wasn’t a patsy and putting his big red stamp all over it is the cherry.
KaKa
That Steve Nickson is definitely a PFM under the guise of a scout. He blatantly just saw Joelinton was big and figured he'd be 'ideal' for lumping the ball at.
D. Yimentov
I'm starting to like him. He's slowly assuming that cult appeal that all semi-likeable blokes do after being comedically s*** for sustained period of time.
Guest Howaythetoon
Honestly a prime Shearer would only be on 5-6 goals in this side. A retired Shearer would still get 5-6 goals more in this side than Joelinton.
Happinesstan
Christ! A dead Shearer wouldn't be far behind. Hail Mary Hail Mary Hail Mary.
Astroblack
Think if Ayoze was still here, he’d be having an easier time. Don’t think ASM is a good partner for him.
jackyboy
At one point ASM broke away from the half way line, usual type of run right to the bye line and crossed the ball. Joelinton hadn't even got as far as the penalty area

Joelinton hadn't even got as far as the penalty area Here’s the problem with the system though. If Joelinton wins a ball on halfway, there’s not a chance he’s making the ground up. This is where you need the wing-backs further up and one of the midfielders taking a gamble once we’ve won the first header. It probably helped Rondon last season that Perez wasn’t a speed merchant because it gave him the chance to turn and catch up with play. ASM and Almiron are heads down, full pelt, there’s little chance Joelinton even if he does bust a gut is going to get there.
